In the name of God Amen I Thomas Ward of Claxton Als Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Carpenter being in perfect health & strength of body & of sound mind & understanding Doe make & ordain this My last Will & Testament in Manner following

Impris I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty god my Creator & My body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be Decently Interred att the discrecon of my Executors hereinafter named hoping Through the onely Merritts & Mediation of my blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ for a Joyfull resureccon to life Eternall

Allsoe my will & mind is that Sarah my wife Shall have & Enjoy All that my Messuage or Tenemt wherein I now Inhabit & Dwell & the homestead to the same belonging & Adjoyning Scituate & being in Claxton Als Long Clawson aforesd And Allsoe All that my Close of pasture ground Lying & being within the West end fields & Liberties of Claxton Als Long Clawson aforesd Commonly called or known by the name of Brookes Close with their & every of their respective Apptenances for & During the Term of her naturall life for & in Lieu of all Such Dower & Thirds which Shee Shall be Intituled to att the Common Law out of any other my Lands Tenemts or hereditamts whatsoever and from

& Immediately after her Decease I Give & Devise the Same to my Eldest Son John Ward his heirs & assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the paymt of such sume or sums of Money which I shall hereinafter Charge upon the same

And Allsoe my will & Mind further is that Sarah my sd wife shall have & enjoy to her own proper use for & During the Term of her Naturall Life if She remain My Widow & not Marry any other husband One Moeity or halfe part of All & every my household goods Chattells rights Creditts & personal Estate of what kind or nature soever & wheresoever the same Shall be found (Except one Bond or Obligacon made by my son Edward Ward to me for Thirty pounds principall money bearing date the Twelfth day of this Instant Month of February) but in Case my sd wife shall happen to Marry any other husband then I Give & Bequeath the same to my sd Son John To him his Execs Adms or assigns And allsoe that it Shall & May be Lawfull to & for my sd Son John his Execs Adms or Assigns to take & receive to his & their own proper Use & Behoofe All Such personal Estate as my sd Wife Shall Dye possessed of In Case She Shall nott happen to Marry any other husband

Allsoe I Give & Bequeath unto my sd Son John Ward his Executors Adms or assigns All that other moiety or halfe part of all & every my sd household Goods Chattells Rights Creditts & personall Estate of what kind or nature soever & wheresoever the same shall be found (Except the sd Bond or Obligacon Before in part recited) upon Condicon that my sd Son John Doe or Shall well & truly pay or Cause to be paid unto my onely Daughter Frances Ward the Sume of fifteen pounds of Good & Lawfull Money of Great Britain As Soon as She Shall attain the Age of one & Twenty years Otherwise it shall & may be Lawfull to & for my sd Daughter Frances to take the sd Last Mentioned Moiety of All my sd household goods Chattells rights Creditts & personal Estate (Except as before is Excepted) to her own proper use & behoofe for ever

And Allsoe I Give & Bequeath Unto my sd Daughter Frances the further Sume of fifteen pounds of Like Lawfull Money of Great Britain And my will & mind is that the same shall be paid by my sd Son John (out of my sd Messuage or Tenemt homestead & Close of pasture ground by me Devised to my sd Son John Ward as aforesd) within one year next after the decease of Sarah my sd wife

Allsoe I Give & Bequeath unto my sd Son Edward Ward the Sume of Thirty pounds of Good & Lawfull Money of Great Britain And allsoe the aforesd in part recited Bond or Obliacon And all the Interest which will be due upon the same Upon Condicon that my sd Son Edward his heirs or assigns Doe & Shall within one whole year next after my decease by Good Conveyance & Assurance in the Law Such as the Councell of My sd Son John his heirs or assigns Shall reasonably Devise or require Grant Convery & Assure unto my sd Son John his heirs & assigns for ever All his & their right Interest Inheritance Claim & Demand whatsoever of in & to All those several pieces & parcells of arable Land meadow pasture & Grass Ground with their respective Appts Lyeing & being Dispersedly within the West end fields Liberties Territories & precincts of Claxton Als Long Clawson aforesd Containing by Estimacon half an Oxgange of Land or thereabouts be the Same more or less now or late in my possession (and Lately Granted & Conveyed by me to my sd Son Edward his heirs & assigns for ever)

And my Will & mind further is that when My sd Son Edward Shall have Conveyed the sd halfe Oxgange of Land to my sd Son John his heirs or assigns That then my Sd Son John his heirs Extors Adms or assigns shall pay the aforesd sume of Thirty pounds of good & Lawfull money of Great Britain before Mentioned to be by me given & Bequeathed to my sd Son Edward as aforesd and in my Sd Son Edward Shall refuse or neglect to Convey all his right & Title of in & to the aforesd halfe Oxgange of Land with the appts unto my sd Son John his heirs & assigns as aforesd that then I give my Son Edward but one Shilling onely and no more And the sd Thirty pounds principall money due upon the sd in part recited bond or Obligacon

I Give & appoint to my sd Daughter Frances when She Shall attain the Age of one & Twenty years in Lieu & full of the before mentioned Two sums of fifteen pounds Each So as that she be Intituled to No more monies or personal Estate than Thirty pounds in the whole Anything hereinbefore Contained to the Contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding

And Lastly I doe hereby Make ordain & Constitute my sd Wife Sarah Ward & my sd Son John Ward Joynt Executors of this My Last Will & Testament hereby absolutely revokeing all former wills & Testamts whatsoever by me att any time heretofore made

In Wittnesse whereof I the sd Thomas Ward have to this My sd Last will & Testament sett my hand & Seale the Eighteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seaven hundred & nine
