George Swain of Long Clawson 1720 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen The two and twentieth day of August 1720 according to the computation of the Church of England I George Swain Senior of Claxton alias Long Clauson in the County of Leicester Shepherd being sick & weak of body doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say
First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing through the meritts of Jesus Christ my only saviour and Redeemer to receive full pardon of all my sins, and be made a partaker of life everlasting And as for my body I commit to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such manner as my Executor hereafter named shall think fit and convenient
And as touching that temporal estate which the Lord in mercy hath lent me I dispose of it in manner and forme following That is to say
First I give and bequeath unto my son George Swain twelve pence
And I give and bequeath unto my son William Swain twelve pence
And Give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Swain fifteen pounds
Item I give unto my loving wife twelv pounds to be paid by my Executor and also twelv shillings year of which my Executor to pay six shillings and William Swain to pay six shillings yearly during my wives life
Item I ordain and appoint my son John Swain to be my Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
In witness whereof I the said George Swain senior do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me made
And I do hereby ratifie and confirm this to be my last Will and Testament setting hereunto my hand and seal
