Hannah Sumner of Stathern 1888 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of my Hannah Sumner of Stathern in the County of Leicester Spinster

I revoke all former Wills and testamentary dispositions made by me

I appoint William Shipman of Hose in the said County of Leicester Farmer and my brother John Sumner of Stathern aforesaid Farmer (hereinafter called my Trustees) to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will

I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate unto my Trustees, upon trust to pay thereout my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and to invest the residue of the personal estate at their discretion with power for them from time to time at such discretion as aforesaid to vary such investments and to stand possessed of the said residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same Upon the trusts following (that is to say)

In trust to pay the income thereof as well as the rents of my real property to my said brother John Sumner for his life should he survive me

And after his decease I direct that the said income both of my real and residuary personal estate be given to his reputed wife Hannah for her life should she survive my said brother John Sumner And upon the death of both of these that is to say of my said brother John Sumner and his said reputed wife Hannah I devise absolutely unto their Children Elisabeth Hannah, Mary Ann, Sarah Eleanor and Bridget Sumner the whole of my said real and residuary personal estate in equal portions

And I appoint the said William Shipman and John Sumner Trustees of this my Will for the purposes of the settled Land Act 1882

Signed and declared by the above named Testatrix as & for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us both present at the same time who in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses

Proved at Leicester on the thirteenth day of December 1888 by the Oath of John Sumner the Brother, one of the Executors to whom Administration was granted William Shipman the other Executor having renounced the Probate and Execution of the Will

The Testatrix Hannah Sumner was late of Stathern in the County of Leicester Spinster and died on the fourteenth day of November 1888 at Stathern aforesaid

Personal Estate Gross £72.8.9.  No deduction.
