John Smith of Nether Broughton 1663 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen The fifetenth day of November in the yeare of our Lord 1658 I John Smith of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Husbandman being sicke of body but of good & perfect memory, praysed be God doe make this my last will & Testament in manner and forme following Viz:

First I give and bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator & maker trusting assuredly to be saved by the merits of the Death & Passion of Jesus Christ my onely Saviour & Redeemer And my body to the Earth to be buried in the Parish Churchyard of Nether Broughton aforesaid

And as for my Land and goods and Chattels I dispose of them in manner and forme as followeth

First I give and bequeath unto Susanna Champion of Edwalton (my eldest Daughter) in the County of Nottingham the Summe of ten Shillings in full satisfaction of her Childs part and portion of my goods

Item I give and bequeath unto her Sonne John Blankley the Summe of ten Shillings and a mare foale of my breed to be delivered to the said John Blankley within the terme of three yeares if he so long live

Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Steele my Daughter the Summe of ten Shillings

Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of the Parish of Nether Broughton the Summe of twenty Shillings to be disposed of to them by the Minister and my Executor

Item I give and bequeath unto all my God Children one Shilling apeece all which (before mentioned) legacies I appoint my Executor to pay within the space of one yeare after my decease excepting the foale before mentioned

And as for all my Lands goods and Chatttells unbequeather (my Legacies being payd and funerall expences discharged) I give and bequeath them unto my Sonne Henry Smith whom I make and appoint my Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament
