Timothy Smart of Long Clawson 1714 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Tymothy Smart of Long Claxton in the County of Leicester Cordwainer This Twentyeth day of June Anno Dni 1714 Being Sick and weake of Body But of Sound mind & Memory thanks be to God therefore do make this My Last will and Testament in Manner following

First I Comend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who Gave it me and My Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Manner

And as touching the Temporall Estate it hath pleased God to bestow upon [“me” missing] I Give and dispose thereof as followeth

Imprimis I Give to my Son Thomas Smart One shilling

Item I Give and bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Margarett and Robert Hickling of Claxton aforesaid Gent and the heirs and assignes of the said Robert Hickling for ever full power and Lawfull Authority to Lett Sett Sell Convey and dispose of All My house yard Orchard Barnes and buildings with their rights priviledges ad appurtts Consisting of Arable meadow and pasture Comon land Comon of pasture Scituate standing Lyeing and being in the West end of the Towne and feilds Liberties and precints of Claxton aforesaid and Now in the Tenure and occupation of me the said Tymothy Smart for the payment of my Just Debts and Legacies and the Overplus and Residue or Remainder of the moneys that the same shall be then Left in their or either of their hands and the same to dispose of and Give unto my Children Isabell Swaine John Smart and Henry Smart as they the sd Margarett and the said Robert Hickling shall think Convenient

And as touching my personall Estate I Give to my Loveing Wife Margarett whom I make Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament Revokeing all former and other wills by me heretofore made Ratifieing and Confirmeing this to be my Last Will and Testament

In Witnesse whereof I the said Tymothy Smart have hereunto sett my hand and seale the Day and yeare first above written
