Thomas Smart of Long Clawson 1669 Will

In the name of god Amen March the sixt 1665 I Thomas Smart thelder of Claxton otherwaies Clawson in the countie of Leicester yeoman sick in bodie butt of good & perfect memorie blessed be god revokinge all other wills by me formerlie made, doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner & forme followinge

First I bequeath my soule to Almightie god whoe gave it me, in whom and by whom I trust to be saved through a livelie fayth in Jesus Christe And my bodie to the earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in Christian buriall, and as for my worldlie goods to be taken and had after my decease I give and bequeath as hereafter followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my eldest Son Thomas Smart one shillinge in full satysfaccon of his Childs part and porcon out of my goods or any part thereof

Itm I give unto my lovinge son Tymothie Smart ten pounds of lawfull englishe mony, to be paied to him or his assignes att or within the space of two yeares next after my decease, in full satysfaccon of his Childes part and porcion

Itm I give and bequeath unto my loving son Beniamin Smart three pounds of lawfull englishe mony to be paied at or within the terme of three yeares next after my decease, in full satisfaccion of his childs part and procion

Itm I give unto the three Children of the abovesd Thomas Smart the younger vidlt Thomas John and Elizabeth (beinge my grandchildren) twelve pence apeece

Itm I give and bequeath unto John Smart my lovinge son and Elizabeth Smart my loveinge daughter full power and lawfull authoritie to take & receive to & for theire owne propper use & behoof the fortie pounds of lawfull englishe money due to be paide by the sd Thomas my son, and for non payment thereof to take the benefit of the premisses according to the covenantes in the deed menconed for the payment thereof

Itm I further give unto them they saied John and Elizabeth my Children to pay my debts & legacies & funerall expences all my goods cattell & Chattells quick & dead whatsoever or wheresoever whom I make & ordain to be ioyntly sole executor & Executrix of this my last will & Testament

In Witnes whereof I the saied Thomas Smart thelder have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day & yeare above written
