The battle and the tension for Scarecrow Weekend organisers has always been about planning vs non-planning. We are all asked to tell the beleaguered organisers what our plans are (a) so that they know the streets won’t be completely empty and (b) to prevent too many duplications. Nearly 20 years in and the residents of Hickling are as recalcitrant as ever … Fortunately, every year lots more scarecrows actually appear than were expected but in 2019 the ‘duplication’ issue went mad – in the best possible way; completely in character – there were MINIONS EVERYWHERE!!
