This is the last Will and Testament of me Henry Richmond of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer

I appoint my friends Samuel Lee of Granby in the County of Nottingham Farmer and John Richard Stokes of Hose in the said County of Leicester Farmer (hereinafter called “my Trustees”) to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will and I give to them a legacy of Twenty Pounds each free of duty for their trouble in acting as such Executors and Trustees

I Give to my Wife Mary Richmond the sum of Fifteen Pounds to be paid to her immediately after my decease and in case she shall marry again the further sum of One hundred Pounds

And I give to Annie Jackson the Daughter of Thomas Jackson of Long Clawson aforesaid Butcher the sum of Fifty Pounds

I give devise and bequeath all my real estate and the residue of my personal estate unto and to the use of my Trustees Upon Trust as to my household furniture plate linen china glass books pictures prints and other household effects belonging to me at the time of my death to allow my said Wife to have the free use and enjoyment thereof during her life so long as she shall remain my Widow and Upon Trust as to the Messuage or tenement situate at Long Clawson aforesaid which I purchased from Mrs Blagden’s Trustees and in which I now reside for my said Wife during her life if she shall so long remain my Widow and as to the residue of my said real and personal estate and as to the said household furniture and effects and the said messuage or tenement upon the decease or marrying again of my said Wife Upon Trust to sell call in and convert into money the same and to stand possessed of the proceeds arising from such sale calling in and conversion and of my ready money after paying thereout my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies bequeathed by this my Will or any Codicil thereto Upon Trust to invest the sum of One thousand Pounds part thereof and to pay the income arising from such investment half yearly to my said Wife during her life if she shall so long remain my Widow and notwithstanding the above power of sale I authorise and empower my Trustees to retain Mr John Pickard’s Mortgage for Five hundred Pounds and my Ten Shares in the London City and Midland Bank Limited and to set aside these two investments in satisfaction of the direction to invest the sum of One thousand Pounds as hereinbefore mentioned without being answerable for any loss of capital or income arising thereby

And I direct my Trustees to stand possessed of the remainder of the said proceeds of sale and of the said sum of One thousand Pounds on the decease or marrying again of my said Wife Upon Trust to pay thereout the legacy of Fifty Pounds free of duty to my Nephew William Henry Richmond the legacy of Twenty Pounds free of duty to the Nottingham General Hospital the receipt of whose Treasurer shall be a sufficient discharge therefor and to my Servant Edward Tinsley in case he shall be in my service at the time of my decease the legacy free of duty of a sum calculated at the rate of One Pound for every year he shall have been in my service from the time he was Fourteen years of age to the date of my death and Upon Trust to divide the residue of the said proceeds of sale among all the children (except the said William Henry Richmond) living at my death of my Brother William Richmond and all the children living at my death of my Sister Mary Goodwin in equal shares Provided always that if any such child or children shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall survive me then and in any such case such last mentioned child or children shall take and if more than one equally between them the share and interest which his her or their parent would have taken under this my Will if such parent had survived me

And I declare that my Trustees may postpone the sale and conversion of any part of my said real estate for so long as they shall think fit and that the rents and profits of such part of such real estate as shall for the time being remain unsold shall after payment thereout of all incidental expenses and outgoings be paid and applied to the person or persons and in manner to whom and in which the proceeds of such sale would be payable under this my Will if such sale had been actually made

And I also declare that as regards any such real estate remaining unsold my Trustees shall be at liberty to let the same from year to year at such rent and subject to such conditions as they shall think fit

And I hereby revoke all former Wills and testamentary dispositions made by me

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me Henry Richmond of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer which Will bears date the Tenth day of May One thousand nine hundred and ten

Whereas by my said Will I have given the residue of my real and personal estate upon trust for sale and conversion and out of the proceeds thereof to invest the sum of One thousand Pounds and to pay the income arising from such investment half yearly to my Wife during her life if she shall so long remain my Widow and notwithstanding the above mentioned trust of sale I have authorised and empowered my Trustees to retain the Mortgage and Bank Shares in my said Will named and to set aside those two investments in satisfaction of the direction to invest the sum of One thousand Pounds as hereinbefore mentioned Now I hereby revoke the authority an power to my Trustees to retain the said Mortgage and Bank Shares and in lieu thereof I authorise and empower my Trustees to retain my twenty Shares in the London City and Midland Bank Limited and the sum of Two hundred and Fifty Pounds invested upon Mortgage of land at Eaton in the said County of Leicester belonging to Mrs Lois Harris and to set aside these two investments and to pay the income arising therefrom to my said Wife in satisfaction of the above recited direction for investment of the sum of One thousand Pounds and for the payment of the income thereof as hereinbefore mentioned without being answerable for any loss of capital or income arising thereby and In all other respects I confirm my said Will
