In the name of God Amen the Tenth day of June in the Thirteenth year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord William the third by the Grace of God of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland King defender of the Faith &c Annoq dni 1703 I William Pilkington of Eaton in the County of Leicester Yeoman being (praised by [sic] God) in Sound and perfect health mind and memory do make and ordaine this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme following

First I humble [sic] resigne my soule unto Almighty God, my Creator and my body I comend to the earth to be decently interred at the discrecon of my Extor hereinafter named

And as for my worldly and Temporall estate I give and dispose thereof as hereafter followes, that is to say

Impris I give unto the poore of Eaton ten shillings

Item I give and devise unto my Son in Law Thomas Wright and to his heires forever All my Lands in Saltby in the said County of Leicester but I give unto my wife Sarah Pilkington Fifty Shillings yearely and every yeare dureing her natural life to be paid her out of my Lands in Saltby without deduccon of or for any manner of taxes, at Michas and Lady day by even and equall porcons the first payment to begin at which of the said times shall first happen next after my decease

Item I give unto the widow of my brother John Pilkington Yearely and every Yeare dureing her natural life twenty shillings to be paid her out of my said Lands in Saltby … without any deduccon at such daies times as my wife is to have and receive her fifty shillings yearely out of my said Lands

Item I give Unto my Sister Jane the wife of John Beverley twenty Shillings Yearely and every Yeare dureing her natural life to be paid her out of my Said lands in Saltby at Such times as aforesaid with power (in case of neglect of paying as aforesd) to distraine for the same

And I doe hereby charge my said lands with the paying of the said Fifty Shillings and two twenty Shillings as aforesaid And in case the said Sumes of Fifty Shillings and two twenty Shillings either or any of them shall be behind and unpaid in any yeare at the times the same ought to be paid as aforesaid or within forty daies next after Then I give unto my said wife, and my brother John Pilkingtons widow and my Sister Jane either or any of them full power to distreyne Upon the said Lands for the Same

Item I give unto my said wife Sarah the Sume of Forty pounds

Item I give and bequeath Unto the foure daughters of my Brother John Pilkington foure score pounds to be equally divided amongst them, and in case any of them die, then I give the part or parts of her or them so dieing Unto the Survivors or Survivor of them to be equally divided amongst them

And I give unto the foure daughters of my Sister Beverly Foure score pounds to be equally divided amongst them and in case any of them die Then I give the part or parts of her or them so dieing Unto the Survivors or Survivor of them to be equally divided amongst them

But my will and mind is that in case there shall be any loss of money by any of the Securities that I have taken or shall take that then it shall be deducted by my Extrix [sic] out of the Legacies given as aforesaid Unto the daughters of my brother Pilkington and my sister Beverly, and equally borne by the said Legatees

Item I give unto John Hollingworth and William Hollingworth his brother sons of William Hollingworth decd five shillings a piece

Item I give William Hollingworth Son of Robert Hollingworth five shillings And my will is that my Extors shall have twelve months time for the payment of the Legacies herein by this my will given and bequeathed

All the rest of my Goods Chattles Cattle and personall estate whatsoever unbequeathed my debts Legacies and funeral expences being first paid and discharged I give unto my said Loveing wife Sarah Pilkington and to my said son in Law Thomas Wright to be equally divided amongst them

And I doe make my said wife and son in Law full and Joynt Extors of this my last will and testament Revokeing all former wills by me made

In Witnesse whereof I the said William Pilkington have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and Yeare first above written
