John Marriott of Long Clawson 1721 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen I John Marriott the Elder of Claxton als Long Clawson in the County of Leicester yeoman being sick and weak but of Sound mind and Memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First and principally I Comend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God who Gave it me and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Manner by my Extors hereafter Named and as touching the Worldly Estate it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow Upon me I Give and Dispose thereof as followeth
Imprimis I Give unto my Daughter Sarah Marriott the sume of Three hundred pounds to be paid her when she attains the age of one and Twenty years
Item I Give unto my daughter Mary Marriott the sume of Three hundred pounds to be paid her when she Attains the age of one and Twenty years
Item I Give to my Loveing wife Mary Marriott and my Loveing Brother Robert Wright of Haverholme in the County of Lincolne yeoman all my personall Estate of what kind sover (Excepting always Twenty pounds in houshold goods) to sell and dispose thereof towards the payment of all my Just debts and the overplus moneys Raised thereby I Give to be plased at Interest for and towards the payment of the aforesaid porcons of my said daughters Sarah Marriott and Mary Marriott when they attaine their severall ages as aforesaid
Item I Give unto my said Wife and my said Brother Robert Wright the Rents and profitts of All that my house in Long Clawson aforesaid which I Late purchased of William Manchester and All that Close of pasture or Inclosed Ground in the Liberties of Hose which I Late purchased of John Voysey to be plased at Interest for and towards the payment of the aforesaid porcons of my said daughters Sarah Marriott and Mary Marriott
Item I Give the said House and Close to my said wife Mary Marriott and Robert Wright their heirs and assignes forever to Enter thereupon when my said daughter Sarah Marriott shall attaine the age of one and twenty years and the same to sell and dispose thereof and the Moneys Raised thereby to be Imployed for and towards the payment of the said three hundred pounds which I have Given to my said daughter Sarah Marriott
Item I Give the sume of Twenty pounds a yeare and every yeare the Like sume of Twenty pounds for and dureing and until my said daughter Sarah Marriott attaine the age of one and twenty years to be Issuieing and to be paid out of the yearly Rents and profitts of all other my Lands and Tenements in the Liberties of Long Clawson and Hose in the County of Leicester aforesaid and to be plased at Interest by my Excors hereafter named for and towards the payment of the aforesaid porcons of my said daughters Sarah Marriott and Mary Marriott when they attaine their several ages as aforesaid
Item I Give to my said daughters ten pounds in household goods to each of them ten pounds worth
Item I Give unto my Loveing wife Mary Marriott all the Rents and profitts of all my Lands and Tenements undisposed of in the Liberties of Long Clawson Hose and Wartnaby in the County of Leicester aforesaid for and dureing and untill my son John Marriott attaine the age of one and twenty years if she Remaines soe long my widdow for and towards the Maintenance and Educacon of my said Children Sarah Marriott John Marriott and Mary Marriott But my mind and will is that if my said Wife shall happen to Intermarry then I Give only the third part of the Rents of my said Lands & Tenements unto my said wife dureing her Life and the other two parts thereof I Give to my Brother Robert Wright to be imployed for and towards the Maintenance and Educacon of my said Children
Item I Give to my son John Marriott and to his heires and assignes forever All my Houses Lands and Tenements undisposed of scituate and being in the Liberties of Long Clawson Hose and Wartnaby aforesaid also my mind and will is that if either my Daughter Sarah Marriott or Mary Marriott happen to dye before they attaine the age of One and Twenty years that then the porcon of such shall be equally divided between such of my Children as shall be then Liveing And also my mind and will is that if the moneys I have appointed for payment of my daughters porcons Surmount Six hundred pounds that then such surplus shall be Imployed for the only benefit of my son John Marriott with the increase thereof
And Lastly I do hereby Nominate and appoint my Loveing wife Mary Marriott and my Brother Robert Wright Extors of this my Last will and Testament hereby Revokeing all former and other wills by me heretofore made
In Witnesse whereof I the said John Marriott have hereunto set my hand and seale this Thirteenth day of October Anno Dni 1715
