Henry Marriott of Long Clawson 1673 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I Henry Marriott of Claxton als Long Clawson in the county of Leicester Yeoman do ordain and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

First I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping and sorely assuring my Self that through the Lords mercy and the All Sufficient merits of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer to be partaker of life Everlasting And for my body I bequeath to the Earth from when it was taken to be buried in Christian buriall in the Churchyard of Claxton according to the Discretion of my Executrix

And for my worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I do dispose of them in manner and form following

First I give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Alice Marriott thirty pounds to be paid at the age of one and twenty or at the time of her marriage.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Second daughter Margaret thirty pounds to be paid at the age of one and twenty or at the time of her marriage

Item I give and bequeath unto my third Daughter Anne thirty pounds to be paid at the age of one and twenty or at the time of her marriage

Item I give and bequeath unto my fourth daughter Elizabeth thirty pounds to be paid at the age of one and twenty or at the time of her marriage Hoping and desireing that they wold take their mothers advice in there choyce if she be living and if it should please God that any of my daughters dye before they come to the age one and twenty or before they marry then the portion or portions to be equally divided amongst the residue of my daughters or if it should please God that three of my daughters die before the times determined aforesaid that their portions then be paid to my surviving daughter at the time or times above said

Item I give unto my Loving son Henry Marriott and to his heirs after him all my estate of house and Land lying and being in The east and West end of Claxton alias Long Clawson aforesaid enjoyning him to pay unto my daughters the sume of twenty pounds of Lawfull Money of England at the time and times above nominated or to the survivour or survivours of them besides the above bequeathed Legacies

Item I make my Loving wife Elizabeth Marriott the Sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I commit the whol management of my estate to her during my childrens minority desireing her to augment their portions to her power during the minority and to pay the said portions at the time and times above mentioned, and I desire her further that she would pay all my debts if any bee and my funerall expences

I make this my last will and Testament revoking all other wills whatsoever

In Witness whereof I put to my hand and Seal the day and year above written

Memorand: that the interline words (and to his heirs after him all) and (Marriott) was expressed before the Sealing hereof
