This is the last Will and Testament of me Betsey Marriott of Hose in the County of Leicester Widow

I hereby revoke all former testamentary dispositions made by me

I appoint my Brothers William Shipman and Henry Shipman and my friend Thomas Shipman of Croxton Kerrial in the said County of Leicester Farmer to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will and Guardians of my daughter Annie Elizabeth Marriott during her minority and they or the survivors or survivor of them or other the Trustees or Trustee for the time being hereof are hereinafter referred to as “my Trustees”

I give devise and bequeath all the real and personal property to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease Unto my Trustees Upon trusts that my Trustees shall sell call in and convert the same into money or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall with and out of the moneys produced by such sale calling in and conversion and with and out of such part of my personal estate as shall consist of money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and shall invest the net residue of the said moneys with power for my Trustees from time to time at their discretion to vary such investments and shall stand possessed of the said residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same (hereinafter called “the residuary trust funds”) Upon the trusts following (that is to say) Upon trust to pay the income thereof to my said daughter Annie Elizabeth Marriott during her life and so that if and while she shall be under coverture the same shall be for her sole and separate use and she shall not have power to dispose of the same in the way of anticipation

And from and after the decease of my said daughter In trust for all the children of my said daughter who being male shall attain the age of twenty one years or being female shall attain that age or marry in equal shares and if there shall be only one such child the whole to be in trust for that one child and in case there shall be no child of my said daughter who being male shall attain the age of twenty one years or being female shall attain that age or marry then Upon trust for such of the several persons following (namely) my Brothers the said William Shipman Henry Shipman and Thomas Andrew Shipman and my Sisters Annie Shipman and Mary Ellen Shipman as shall be living at the decease of my said daughter to take if more than one in equal shares but if there shall be no object of the last preceding trust who shall be living at the decease of my said daughter then Upon trust for all the Children of my said Brothers William Shipman Henry Shipman and Thomas Andrew Shipman and my said Sisters Annie Shipman and Mary Ellen Shipman as shall be living at the decease of my said daughter to be equally divided between them share and share alike

I declare that my Trustees shall have full discretionary power to permit any part of my personal estate which shall at my decease consist of mortgages stocks funds shares in public companies or securities including personal securities or any other species of investment yielding interest or income to remain in the same state of investment for such period or periods as my Trustees shall think fit and my Trustees shall not be responsible for any loss which may arise through the exercise of the aforesaid power

And I further declare that all moneys liable to be invested under this my Will may be invested in or upon any stocks funds or securities of or guaranteed by the Government of the United Kingdom or any British Colony or Dependency or the Debenture securities stocks or shares of any Railway or other Company in the United Kingdom or India or upon real securities in England or Wales but not elsewhere

Signed and acknowledged by the said Betsey Marriott the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses

Proved at Leicester on the twelfth day of June 1886 by the Oaths of William Shipman and Henry Shipman the Brothers the surviving Executors to whom Administration was granted Thomas Shipman the other Executor named in the Will having survived the deceased and died without having taken upon himself the Probate and Execution thereof

The Testatrix Betsy Marriott was late of Hose in the County of Leicester Widow and died on the twenty fourth day of March 1886 at Hose aforesaid
