John Man of Nether Broughton 1730 Will and Inventory

In the name of God amen I John Man of Nether Broughton in the county of Leicester husbandman being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and understanding prased be almighty god for the same do make this my last will and testament in maner following that is to say

Imprimis I resine my Soul into the hands of all mighty god my creator and my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named and as for such temporal estate which it hath please almighty god to bestow upon mee I give and dispose of the same as followes that is to say

I give and devise all those four paster to be had and taken within the great grange close and within the feildes and libertis of Nether Broughton aforesaid which was purchased of Hugh Gill unto John Man my son to hold to him and his heires forever

Itam I give and devise unto my two sons George Man and William Man all that my oxgang of land lying within the fields of Nether Broughton aforesaid and pastures and commons belonging to the same now in my one possion to hold to them there heires and assignes for ever subject nevertheless to the payment of the sum of ten pounds unto my son John Man which I hereby give him to be paid him when my said Son George Man attain to his age of five and twenty years and I do hereby charge my said oxgange of land with the payment of the said sum of ten pounds so given to my said Son John Man as aforesaid yet it is my will and intent that my loving wife Elizabeth shall have and take the rents and profits of the said oxgang of land untill my said son George shall atain his said age of five and twenty years and if it shall so happen that either of my said sons George and William Mann shall dye before my said son George shall attain his said age of five and twenty years that then it is my will and intent that the survivour of them shall pay unto my said son John Man out of my said oxgang of Land the sum of forty pounds

Itam I give and devise unto my said wife Elizabeth and her heirs all that my pease close lying in Nether Broughton aforesaid and now in my postion and I do appoint my said wife Elizabeth Sole Executrix of this my will and do give unto her all and singular my goods cattle chattles and personal estate whatever she paying out of the same my just depts and legacies and funeral expences and I do declare this to be my last will and testament hereby Revoking all former wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said John Man the testator have hereunto set my hand and seale this seventeenth day of March anno dni 1729
