George Mann of Nether Broughton 1746 Will

In the name of God Amen I George Man of Neather Broughton in the County of Leicester framework knitter being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory (praised be Almighty God for the same) but considering the uncertainty of Life and the certainty of Death do make and ordain this my Last Will and testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as for my temporal Estate which it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose of the same as followeth

First I give and Devise all those my three cow pastures and three sheep pastures to be had and taken and enjoyed within the Great Grange Close and other the fields and Commonable places in Neather Broughton aforesaid which was late the Estate of my late Father Henry Man Deceased all which said cow pastures and sheep pastures are in my own possession unto my youngest son John Man and his heirs and asignes for ever Subject nevertheless to the payment of the sum of three pounds which I hereby Give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Birds four Children to be equally Devided amongst them to be paid within twelve months after my Decease

Also I give and devise and my House and home Close and all the appurtenances theirunto belonging (which I lately purchased of and from Edward Mot and his partners) unto my Son George Man and his heirs and asignes for ever

Also I give unto my Son Henry Man the sum of Five pounds of currant money to be paid within twelve months after my Decease

Also I will that my Debts Legacys and funeral charges be discharged by the Executor hereafter named

All the rest of my Goods cattles and chattles Bills Bonds and personal Estate whatsoever my Debts and Legacys and funeral Charges being first paid I give and bequeath unto my Son George Man Whom I hereby nominate and appoint full and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said George Man the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of February and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred forty and five

Sealed signed published and declared by the said George Man the testator for and as his last will and testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses in his presence
