George Manchester of Long Clawson 1680 Will and Inventory

December 18th 1680

In the name of god Amen I George Manchester the elder of Claxton in the County of Leicester yeoman being weake of body but of a disposeing mind doe make and ordaine this to be my last will & Testament in maner & forme following

Imprimis I give & bequeath my soule to god that gave it & my body to be buryed in the Church yard of Claxton aforesaid & as for my worldly estate I doe dispose of as followeth

Imprimis I doe give unto my son John Manchester five pound to be paid within the space of Two yeares after my decease

Item I doe give unto my sons William & Thomas Manchester to each of them five pound one halfe to be paid within the space of halfe a yeare after my decease & the other halfe to be paid within the space of Two yeare after my decease

Item I doe give unto my son Robert Manchester all that land with the appurtenances thereto belonging which I purchased of Henry Stokes to him & his heires & assignes for ever

Item I doe give unto my Gran Child William Manchester one bald fole

I doe give to my Granchild George Manchester one ewe

Item I doe give unto my daughter Ann Musson fifteene pounds to be paid within the space of Two yeares after my decease

I doe give to my daughter Mary Manchester fifteene pounds to be paid within the space of Two yeares or hir day of marriage which shall first hapen

Item I doe give unto my daughter Jane Manchester Twenty pounds to be paid within the space of one yeare after my decease

Item my mind & will is that the fire Iron & Reckings & the Table in the house shall stand as heirelomes

All the rest of my household goods I doe give to my three daughters to be divided betwixt them as my wifes will & pleasure is

I doe give to my loveing wife one Cow & foure sheepe

All the Rest of my goods Cattell & Chattells whatsoever I doe give unto my son George Manchester to pay my debts legacyes & funerall expences whome I doe make Executor of this my last will & Testament

In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale the day & yeare first above writen

Item my mind & will is that my Executor before named shall pay my sonn John five pounds more than that aforesaid
