John Leake his last will & Testamt

In the name of god Amen &c

First I bequeath my soule to god & my body to the Earth &c to be buried in the Churchyard of Claxton And for my worldly goods to be disposed as followeth viz

I give to the poore people of Claxton 13s 4d to be devided amongst them at the discreation of the Vicar, the overseers for the poore and my executrix

And for the poore people of Car Colston xxs to be devided amongst them in that lyke maner by the discreation of the Vicker & overseers for the poore of that parrish & my Executrix

Itim for the estate of my lands, my mynde is that it remayne as I have alreddy disposed of it (by deeds) amongst my sonnes

Itim I give to every of my 4 daughters videlt Katherine Sampson, Anne Manchester, Isabell Hiclinge, and Alice Hill, to every one of them vi li apeece

Itm to Isabell Hickling I give my Cubborde now I the house and I give to Judith Hicling the daughter of Willm Hiclinge my bedsted that I now lye on

Itm I give & forgive unto Willm Hiclinge my sonne in lawe & his wife all the debts which they owe unto mee

Itm I give to Mary the daughter of Wm Manchester one Chist that is nowe standing in the Chamber

Itm I give to my sonne Henry Leake my spitte and Cobberds

Itm to my daughter Anne Manchester the overst Coverlidde that lyeth now uppon mee

Itm All other Implements of houshould stuffe & other things now in and about the house of my sonne in law Wm Hiclinge I give to him & his wife

Itm I give to the sonne of Wm Hicling my Cowe

Itm I give to Agnes Mason, the daughter of John Mason xls to goe forwards from this yeare to the best use for her, At the oversight & discretion of my sonne Henry Leake

Itm I give to John (the sonne of my sonne Henry Leake) xls to be putte to the best use for him at the discreation of his father

Itm I give to John the sonne of Wm Manchester my Middle suite of Appell

Itm I give every one of my sister Tomlinsons Children videlt, Richard, Roger, Katherine & Elizabethe Tomlinson & to Robt Goodwine to every one of them vis viiid

Itm I give to be devyded amongst the Children of Lawrence Kirke (my wyves brother) xxs

Itm I give to the Children of my sonne Richard Leake to be equally devyded amongst them 4 li

The Residew of my Goods unbequeathed after my debts & legacyes are payd and my funeral expences I give to be devyded between my two sonnes Richard Leake and Henry Leake whom I make Joynte Exeuctors of this my last will & Testament

And I make Edward Hiclinge thelder and Willm Levers overseers of the … requesting them to see that all things herein be performed according to my mynde, And for their paynes I give them iix vid a peece
