William Kendall of Long Clawson 1745 Will

In the Name of God Amen.  The Twelfth Day of May 1745.  I William Kendall of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester being very sick & Weak in Body, but of perfect Mind & Memory, Thanks be give unto God: Therefore calling into Mind the Mortality of my Body, & knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die, do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament

That is to say, principally & first of all I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it, & my Body to the Earth, to be buried Decent Christian Burial, at the Discretion of my Executors

& as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I give, demise, & dispose of the same in the following Manner & Form

Imprimis, I give & bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife Ann Kendall the sum of Twenty shillings per annum during her natural Life to be paid out of my Estate at Long Clawson & after her Decease to come to my Children as hereafter named

I give to my Uncle William Swift of Wimswould & John Bonsar of Coates both in the County of Leicester their Heirs & Assigns all that my Estate at Hoten and Clawson both in the County of Leicester & all my Personal Estate upon special Trust & confidence.  Nevertheless for the use & intent of the Purposes hereafter mentioned that is to say, for the Use of John Kendall my Eldest son all my Estate at Hoten in the County of Leicester He paying to my son William Kendall the sum of Thirty Pounds when he attains to the Age of Twenty One years, Also to pay to my son George Kendall the sum of Thirty Pounds when he attains to the Age of Twenty one years; & also to pay off all the Mortgage out of my Estate at Hoten; moreover if my son John Kendall die before he come to the Age of Twenty one years then my Estate at Hoten to go to my Son William Kendall he paying to my son George Kendall the additional Sum of Twenty Pounds when he attains to the Age of Twenty one years over & above the Thirty Pounds before mentioned

& as for my real & Personal Estate at Clawson I leave to my Dearly Beloved Wife to bring up my Children withal during the time she remains my Widow but immediately after Her Decease or Marriage then to go to my Children as follows

Namely William, George, Mary, Thomas, David & Ann, my Sons to have two pence to my Daughters one penny but if any of these said Children die before they come to the Age of Twenty One Years then the Survivors to have the Estate as before mentioned

& I do hereby appoint my Loving Uncle William Swift & John Bonsar Trustees & Guardians for my Wife & Children & do give them full Power to Sell, Sett Lett, or dispose of any or all my real & Personal Estate for the paying my Lawfull Debts for the Use of my Children above mentioned

& I do hereby make, Ordain, Constitute & Appoint my Loving Uncle William Swift & John Bonsar Executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former Wills & Testaments whatsoever by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said William Kendall have to this my last Will & Testament Set my Hand & Seal the Day & Year above written
