Dorothy Jarvis of Harby 1860 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Dorothy Jarvis of the Parish of Harby in the County of Leicester Spinster

First I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid

I Give and bequeath unto my Executor upon Trust for the equal benefit of my Brother George’s seven children namely Mary, Elizabeth, Thomas Jarvis, Ann, Sarah, Frances and George and also the six children of my Brother Joseph (deceased) namely Elizabeth, John, William, Ann, Thomas James and Richard share and share alike to each respectively all my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature or kind soever the same may be after payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary costs

The remaining part of what I may die possessed of I direct my Executor upon trust to invest the same upon real or approved security as soon as convenient after my decease and the annual produce and interest arising therefrom shall be paid and applied towards their maintenance and education until they shall severally and respectively attain the age of twenty one years

I direct that not any of the legacies be paid till after twelve calendar months after my decease and in case any or either of the above named children shall happen to die before their said legacies shall become payable then I give and bequeath the share or shares of him her or them so dying as aforesaid unto the survivor or survivors of them his or her executors administrators and assigns and I do declare that my said Executor shall and may at all times out of the first monies that may come to his hands reimburse himself all such costs charges and expences as he may be put unto or sustain in and about the execution of the trusts of this my Will neither shall he be answerable for more monies than come to his hands respectively

I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Brother George Jarvis to be the Executor upon trust of this my Will and I do hereby revoke and make void all other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this sheet of paper to contain this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Testatrix Dorothy Jarvis have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand this twelfth Day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty

Signed and declared by the above named Dorothy Jarvis the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto set our names as Witnesses thereto
