Robert Hopkin of Nether Broughton 1778 Will

In the name of God Amen I Robert Hopkin the elder of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Framework knitter being mindful of my mortality do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner Following That is to say

First and principally I commend my Soul to the Almighty who gave it and my body to the dust from whence it was taken To be decently interred at the Charge and discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and for my Worldly Goods of which I may die possest I dispose of the same as follows

Imprimis I give to my dear Wife Ann Hopkin all and Singular my Messuage or Tenement in Which I now dwell with the Homestead and all appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during the term of her natural Life and from and after the decease of my Said Wife I give and devise the same unto my Son John Hopkin to Continue to him his Heirs and assigns for ever

I also give to my Daughter Anne Greasley the Sum of Four pounds to be paid her by my Executors within Twelve months after my decease and the sum of Four pounds more to be paid her at my Wifes decease

I Give to my Daughter Sarah Haddon the Sum of twenty Shillings

I also give to my daughter Elizabeth Clifford the Sum of Five Shillings

I also give to my Sons William, Joseph, and Samuel Hopkin the Sum of Forty Shillings each and my Will is that each of the said Legacies be paid by my Executors hereafter named within twelve months after my decease

All the rest and residue of my goods Chattels & personal Estate of all kinds Whatsoever after my Just debts are paid I give to my Sons Robert and Edward Hopkin (they thereout paying to my dear Wife Ann Hopkin the Sum of Six pounds a year by equal half yearly payments for and during her natural Life) and I hereby nominate and appoint my said Sons Robert and Edward Joint Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills at any time heretofore by me made Confirming this Only as my Last will & testament

In Witness whereof I the said Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Sixth day of September One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven
