Alice Hickling of Ab Kettleby 1845 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Alice Hickling or Abb Kettleby in the County of Leicester Spinster

First I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be fully paid

I Give and bequeath unto the four children of my late Nephew William Freckingham of Upper Broughton namely Mary Freckingham, Elizabeth Freckingham, Thomas Freckingham, and Martha Freckingham, the sum of Twenty pounds to be equally divided between them share and share alike when and as soon as the youngest of them shall have attained to his or her Age of Twenty one years And my Will is that the said sum of Twenty pounds shall be placed out at Interest by my Executrix hereafter named and that the Interest arising therefrom shall accumulate in the Nature of Compound Interest unto and for their benefit and to be equally divided amongst them when and as soon as such youngest child shall attain the said age of Twenty one years

I Give and bequeath unto John Freckingham now residing in Matlock Moor Cottager the sum of Ten pounds

Unto my Nephew Francis Freckingham of Holwell in the said County of Leicester Cottager the sum of Nineteen pounds nineteen shillings which said two last legacies I direct shall be paid by my Executrix within six months after my decease

And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate and Effects of Whatsoever nature or kind the same may be I Give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my Neice Martha the wife of John Gale the younger of Whissendine in the County of Rutland

And I do hereby appoint the said Martha Gale Sole Executrix of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made

This is a codicil to my last will & testament date the eleventh day of December one thousand eight hundred & forty one

Whereas I have given to my nephew John Freckingham the sum of ten pounds & to my nephew Francis Freckingham the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings & whereas I have given the rest of my property (subject to the payment of the legacies) unto my niece Mary Gale & appointed her sole executrix

Now I do hereby revoke the above legacies & the bequest of the residue & also the appointment of execution

Now I do hereby will & direct the whole of my personal property (subject to the payment of the legacies to my great nephew & three great neices) (& also subject to the payment of the sum of five pounds to my said neice Mary Gale) I give & bequeath the same & my part thereof unto my nephew Francis Freckingham with whom I now reside at Scalford in the County of Leicester & do appoint him sole executor to my said will & codicil

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty first day of April 1845

Francis Freckingham of Scalford in the county of Leicester Cottager, the sole Executor in this will named was duly sworn to the truth & faithful performance thereof as usual & that the goods chattels & credits of the deceased without deducting any debts owing by her therefrom do not amount in value to the sum of two hundred pounds & that the deceased died on the thirteenth day of May last past

On the first day of September 1845 origl Will & Codicil exhibited before the Rev: Jemson Davies Clerk Master of Arts & Surrogate of the Commissary & Probated decreed to pass Seal to the aforenamed Francis Freckingham in the presence of John Stockdale Hardy Registrar

Same day Probate dated
