Thomas Hart of Long Clawson 1719 Will and Inventory

Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Archives, Leicestershire Wills and Probate Records 1719

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Hart of Claxton Als Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Whitture being Mindfull of my Mortality doe make & ordain this my last will and Testament in manner following

Impris I Give devise & Bequeath unto my youngest Son Thomas Hart and to his heirs & assigns for ever All That my Messuage or Tenement withe orchards & appts thereunto belonging Scituate & being in Claxton Als Long Clawson aforesd wherein I now Inhabit & dwell And allsoe All that my one fourteenth part of a certain Wind Mill & the several peices & parcells of ground to the same belonging scituate & being within the westend fields of Claxton Als Long Clawson comonly called or known by the name of the West Mill

Allsoe I Give and bequeath unto my sd son Thomas the sume of five pounds of good and lawfull money of Great Britain out of my personal Estate

Item I Give and bequeath unto my Eldest son Richard Hart the sume of sixty pounds of good & Lawfull money of Great Britain out of the residue of my said personal Estate

Item I Give & Bequeath unto my onely daughter Elizabeth Hart the sume of Thirty pounds of good & lawfull money of Great Britain out of the sd residue of my sd personal Estate

Allsoe my Will & Mind is that my sd three Children shall have receive & Enjoy their respective shares & portions aforemenconed when they shall severally attain their Ages of one & Twenty years & not before

Allsoe I Desire my Executors hereinafter named to make sale of all my personal Estates whatsoever as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and to place the money raised thereby (together with such other ready money which I shall Leave) out at Interest And to apply therouts of my said messuage the profits of my sd part of the sd windmill and the Interest as aforesd To the Bringing up  of my sd Three Children untill they shall Attain severall Ages aforesd

Allsoe I desire my Brother Richard Hart to take care of my sd son Richard to Learn him the Trade of a Whitture which he now useth as soon as he conveniently can

And also all the overplus of my sd personal Estate if any be after my Just Debts funeral Expences Executors Chrges & the Legacys aforesd are fully discharg’d I Give & Bequeath unto my sd Three Children to be divided amongst them at the Discretion of my sd Extors

And Lastly I Doe hereby make ordain constitute & appoint Henry Marriott of Claxton als Long Clawson aforesd yeoman & George Rowse of the same Blacksmith & my sd Brother Richard Hart Joynt Executors of this my sd last Will & Testamt and Guardians for my sd Children hereby revokeing all former Wills & Testamts whatsoever by me heretofore made

In Wittnesse whereof I the sd Thomas Hart sd Testator have hereunto set my hand & Seal the fifth Day of August in the year of our Lord 1719
