William Hand of Long Clawson 1810 Will

In the name of God amen I William Hand of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Weaver being mindful of my mortality do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say

First and principally I commend my Soul to God who gave it and my Body to the dust from whence it was taken to be decently interred by my Executor hereafter named and for and concerning those Worldly Goods of which I may die possest I depose thereof as follows

First I give to my Son in Law Edward Clements one Shilling

I also give to each of my three daughters Mary Miller, Frances Woodcock and Sarah Turville one Shilling apese

I also give to my Wife Mary Hand the use of the little parlour during her Natural Life or So long as she remains my Widow

I also give to my said Wife the use but not the property of all the furniture therein if she chooses to dwell therein for such time and so long as she chooses to dwell therein

All the residue of my goods Cattle Chattles and personal Estate of all kinds whatsoever and wheresoever (Subject to such Limitations and provisions as are hereinafter mentioned) I give to my Son John Hand and my Will is that my said Son John Hand shall find and provide for my said Wife sufficient meat drink washing Lodging and apparel suitable to her degree for Such and so long as she shall Continue to dwell and Live with my said son John Hand but if my said Wife shall choose to dwell in the little parlour before mentioned separate from my said Son that then my Will is that my said son shall provide for her twenty hundreds of Coals every years and also pay or Cause to be paid unto my said Wife the sum of Two pounds a year each and every year for so Long time as she shall live separately from my said Son John Hand by even Quarterly payments on the most usual Feasts or days of payments that is to say the feast of the Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary the Nativity of Saint John Baptist Saint Michael the Arch Angel and the Nativity of our Lord, the first payment to be made on such of the said Feast days as shall next happen after my said Wife shall cease to dwell with my said Son John Hand

And I hereby nominate and Appoint my said son John Hand full and Sole Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former and other Wills at any time heretofore by me made confirming this only as my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Seventh Day of December one thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety One

Let probat be granted to John Hand, the sole Executor named in the within written will, he being sworn to the due execution thereof, and made oath that the whole personal estate of the Testator at the time of his death (Septr 29th last) did not amount to the sum of one hundred pounds
