William Hand of Long Clawson 1721 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I William Hand of Claxton Als Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Shoemaker being sick & weake of Body but of sound & perfect memory & understanding doe make & ordain this my Last will & Testamt in manner following

Impris I Commend my Soul into the hands of Allmighty god my Creator & my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be decently Interred att the discretion of my Execs hereinafter named hoping through the onely merritts & mediation of my Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for a Joyfull resurrection to Life Eternal

Allsoe I Give and Devise unto my Eldest Son Henry Hand & to his heirs & assigns forever one moyety or halfe part of my Dwelling House & Orchard to the same belonging and Adjoyning with the appts Scituate & being in Claxton Als Long Clawson aforesd he paying thereout the sume of six pounds & Tenn Shillings and all Interest which shall be due for the same

And Allsoe I Give & Devise unto my youngest son Mathew Hand and to his heirs & assigns for ever The other Moyety or halfe part of my sd Dwelling House & Orchard with the apptenances And Allsoe one Moyety or halfe part of All the Backsides & Buildings to the same belonging and Adjoyning he thereout paying the like Sume of Six pounds & Tenn Shillings & all Interest which shall be due for the same which sd Two sums of Six pounds & Tenn Shillings Each make together in the whole the sume of Thirteen pounds which I have allready charged by Mortgage on my whole sd Dwelling House & premisses to Robt Garton yeom

And my Will & mind further is that my two daughters Alice Hand & Elizabeth Hand Shall have & Enjoy free Libty to Inhabit & Dwell in Some convenient part of the moyety of my sd Dwelling House by me devised to my sd Son Mathew Hand for & during the Term of their Two natural Lives if they remain Sole & unmarried

And Allsoe I Give & devise unto my sd son Mathew Hand to his heirs & assigns forever All That my one arable Land with the appts lying & being in the Gorsefield of Claxton als Long Clawson aforesd in certain furlong there called the Stapples lately purchased by me of my Brother Henry Bake [sic]

Allsoe I Give & bequeath unto my sd Son Henry Hand one Shilling & to his Son Mathew Hand one shilling

Allsoe I Give & Bequeath all & every my goods chattells Leather Tools rights Creditts & Personal Estate of what kind or nature soever & wheresoever the same shall be found unto my sd youngest son Mathew Hand And my sd Two daughters Alice Hand & Elizabeth Hand Share & Share alike my personal Debts Legacies & funeral expences being first paid & discharged

And lastly I Doe hereby make ordain constitute & appoint my sd Son Mathew Hand & my sd two daughters Alice Hand & Elizabeth Hand Joynt Exec & Extrixes of this my last will & Testamt hereby revoking all former wills & Testamts whatsoever by me at any time heretofore made

In Wittness whereof I the sd William Hand have to this my Last will & Testamt Sett my hand & seal this Thirtieth Day of July in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Twelve
