This is the last Will and Testament of me William Hall of Long Clawson otherwise Claxton in the County of Leicester Grazier made this thirteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Eighteen as follows (that is to say)

In the first place I Give and devise unto my Brother Henry Hall of Asfordby in the County of Leicester Grazier All that my Messuage or tenement with the homestead thereunto adjoining situate at Granby in the County of Nottingham And also all those two several pieces plots or parcells of Land or Ground respectively containing Twenty Eight Acres and ten perches and Forty two Acres and eleven perches situate lying and being in the Lordship or Liberties of Granby aforesaid All which said Messuage or tenement and several pieces or parcells of Land are now in the tenure or occupation of James Bates his Assignee or Assigns and which I sometime since purchased of Thomas Mitchell And also all those three Closes pieces or parcells of Land situate lying and being within the parish of Granby aforesaid called or known by the several Names and containing the several quantities of land or thereabouts hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) The pasture or Barn Close seven acres two roods and thirty perches the East field Ten Acres two roods and seven perches and the South field thirteen Acres and Eight perches And also all and all manner of Tythes and Tenths of Corn Grain Hay Wool and Lamb and all other Tythes and tenths whatsoever of me the said William Hall yearly or otherwise issuing arising renewing or happening from or out of all my said three last mentioned Closes and premises which are now in the several occupations of the said James Bates and William Hall of Sutton and were purchased by me about six years since of Harriet Anne Bonell And also all other my Messuages Lands Tenements Tythes and hereditaments whatsoever situate and being within the fields precincts Liberties or parish of Granby aforesaid with the appurtenances To hold the same and every part thereof unto and to the Use of my Brother the said Henry Hall and his Assigns for and during the Term of his natural Life And from and immediately after his decease I Give and devise my said Messuage or Tenement Lands Tenements Tythes hereditaments and premises situate at Granby aforesaid unto my Nephew William Flower of Granby aforesaid his Heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and devise unto my said Brother Henry Hall All that Messuage or tenement with the homestead and appurtenances thereto belonging containing three Acres and twenty four perches Also the home close containing one acre one rood and twenty six perches Also the close containing two Acres and fifteen perches or thereabouts And also all that parcell of Land containing Forty Acres two roods and Eight Perches of thereabouts divided into several  Closes All which said last mentioned Messuage or tenement and Closes are situate at Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid and are now in the my own occupation and were sometime since purchased by me of Mrs Thomas Frisby And also all other my Messes Closes Lands Tenements and hereditaments situate lying and being within the Lordship or parish of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid with the appurtenances to the same belonging To hold the same unto my said Brother Henry Hall and his assigns for and during the Term of his natural Life and from and immediately after his decease Then I give and devise two undivided third parts the same into three equal parts to be divided of and in all and singular my said Messuage or Tenement Lands Closes hereditaments and premises situate at Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid unto my Niece Mary Flower of Asfordby aforesaid Spinster her Heirs and assigns for ever And I give and devise the remaining one undivided third part of the same Estate unto my Nephew Henry Flower of Scarrington in the said County of Nottingham Grazier his Heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and devise unto my said Brother Henry Hall All that my undivided moiety or full half part (the whole is into two equal parts to be divided) of and in all that Close or inclosed ground called Townsend Close situate at Asfordby aforesaid and containing thirty three Acres three roods and twenty Eight perches or thereabouts with the appurtenances To hold the same unto and to the Use of my said Brother Henry Hall his Heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath unto my said Nephew William Flower the sum of One hundred pounds Unto my nephew Henry Flower the Sum of one hundred pounds Unto the said Mary Flower the Sum of one hundred pounds Unto Ann Hebb the wife of Henry Hebb of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid the Sum of one hundred pounds Unto Elizabeth Brown of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid the Sum of one hundred pounds Unto my Niece and God Daughter Mary Whyman of Post [?] Witham in the County of Lincoln the Sum of Two hundred pounds And unto my Nieces Ann Hall and Elizabeth Hall the Sum of One hundred pounds apiece And my Will is and I do hereby direct that the said several Legacies shall be paid to the said several Legatees respectively or to their respective legal representatives within twelve Calendar Months next after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named

Also I Give unto the Minister Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Granby aforesaid  for the Time being the Sum of five pounds to be distributed amongst such industrious poor persons of the said parish of Granby not receiving Relief of the said Parish as the said Minister Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor together with my Executor hereinafter named shall think most deserving and in such manner as they shall judge most beneficial within one Calendar Month next after my decease

Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said Brother Henry Hall his heirs Executors and Administrators All my household Goods furniture plate Linnen china Ware Moneys securities for moneys Goods Chattels and all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore disposed of Subject nevertheless to the payment of all the just Debts that I shall owe at the Time of my decease my funeral Expences the Legacies hereinbefore by me given and the Charges of proving this my Will

And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Brother Henry Hall sole Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said William Hall have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three Sheets of Paper set my Hand to the two first Sheets and my Hand and seal to this last Sheet the day and year first above written

Let a probat be granted to Henry Hall of Asfordby in the County of Leicester Grazier sole Executor named in the Will of William Hall of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Grazier who died at Long Clawson on the 20th of January 1820

He the said Henry Hall being duly sworn as well to the faithful execution of the Will as that the Testator’s Goods, Chattels & Credits, as they were at his death, without deducting any debts owing by him therefrom, did not amount in value to the sum of two thousand pounds
