In the Name of God Amen The [blank] day of August 1719 according to the computation of the Church of England I Edward Fawlkes of Claxton alias Long Clauson in the County of Leicester being weak in body but of a sound mind and memory (Blessed be Almighty God for it) doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following That is to say
First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing through the meritts and mediation of Jesus Christ my only saviour and Redeemer to receive full pardon of all my sins and be made a partaker of life everlasting And as for my body I commit to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such manner as my Executor hereafter named shall think fit and convenient
And as touching that temporal estate which the Lord in mercy hath lent me, I dispose of it in manner and forme following That is to say
First I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Jane Fawlkes seaven pound a year during her life, & I will that my Executor pay it yearly to her, And I give her also all my household goods to use or sell or dispose of as she pleases
Item I give unto my daughter Mary Doubleday five shillings
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Fawlkes fourty pound
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Fawlkes sixty pound
Item I give unto my Grandchildren Edward Doubleday, Mary Doubleday, William Doubleday, Anne Doubleday, and John Doubleday five shilling a piece
But note & observe that my mind and will is that my wife Jane Fawlkes receive three pound and ten shillings at the half years end after my decease and soe successively every half year
And whereas I give to my son Robert Fawlkes sixty pound I will and my mind is that he receive twenty pound of the sixty when he comes out of his apprentiship to buy him a loom to work on, and the other fourty pound a year after my decease
And I ordain and appoint my son Edward Fawlkes to be my sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament
In witness whereof I the said Edward Fawlkes doe hereby revoke and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me made And I do hereby ratifie and confirm this to be my last Will and Testament setting hereunto my hand and seal
