This is the last Will and Testament of me Vincent Elson of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Bachelor
I do hereby order and direct that all my Just Debts Funeral and testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my Decease by William Elson Son of John & Ann Elson my Executor
First I give and bequeath to Ann Freer Daughter of John & Ann Elson the sum of Twenty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Sarah Jinkinson [sic] Daughter of John & Ann Elson the sum of Twenty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Mary Todd Daughter of John & Ann Elson the sum of Twenty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Thomas Elson son of John and Ann Elson them sum of Twenty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Worsley Daughter of John & Elizabeth Hand the sum of Twenty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to John Elson Son of John and Ann Elson the sum of Forty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to William Elson Son of John & Ann Elson the sum of Forty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Hubbard Daughter of John & Ann Elson the sum of Forty Pounds
Also I give and bequeath to Hannah Cooke Daughter of John & Ann Elson the sum of Forty Pounds
All the above Legacies shall be paid Three Months after my Decease by my Executor
If [sic] after my Decease after my Debts & expenses are paid I give & bequeath the remainder that is left to William Elson son of John & Ann Elson my Executor
In witness whereof I have hereunto put my Hand & Seal this sixth day of February One Thousand Eight Hundred & Thirty Nine

Appeared personally John Walker of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Schoolmaster and made Oath That he is one of the subscribed Witnesses to the last Will and Testament of Vincent Elson late of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County and Archdeaconry of Leicester deceased bearing date the sixth day of February last now hereunto annexed And he further made Oath that on the sixth day of February aforesaid the said Testator duly executed his last Will by signing his Name with a Mark at the foot or end thereof in the presence of this Deponent and of John Richmond and Richard Richmond the other subscribed Witnesses thereto who were then together present at the same time with the said deceased and this Deponent and the said John Richmond and Richard Richmond thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and of each other

On the Twenty third day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine the said John Walker was duly sworn at Melton Mowbray in the county of Leicester to the Truth of the aforegoing affidavit
Before Me John S Hallifax Surrogate to the Commissary
April 16th 1839
William Elson of Goadby Marwood in the County of Leicester Farmer the sole executor in the will named was duly sworn to the truth and faithful performance thereof as usual and that the goods chattels and credits of the Deceased do not amount in value to the sum of four Hundred and fifty Pounds and that the deceased died on the twentieth day of February last past
