Edward Draper of Long Clawson 1673 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I Edward Draper of Claxton als Long Clawson in the county of Leicester Husbandman being weake in body but of sound & perfect mind and memory all praise bee therefore given to Allmighty God Doe make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following (that is to say)

First & principally I commend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God my maker and of Jesus Christ my onely Saviour & redeemer by whose mercy & merit I hope to obtaine free pardon & remission of & for all my sins & offences & to inherit (among the elect) the joyes & fruition of eternall life, my body I commit to the Earth from whence it was extracted & taken to bee decently buried at the discretion of my Executor & Executrix hereafter named in expectation of a joyfull resurrection at the last day And as to the things of this transitory life which God of his exceeding bounty & goodness towards me hath been pleased to endowe me withall I order & dispose thereof in manner & forme following (that is to say)

Imprimis I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Draper my loving daughter the sume of forty pounds of good & Lawfull money of England to be pd out of my Lands & tenemt which I live in in Claxton aforesd which I give & bequeath to William Draper my Son to hould to him & his heires forever the said forty pounds to bee pd in such manner and at such times as herein are after expressed That is to say Twenty pounds thereof within one Moneth next after my sd loving daughter Elizabeth shall have attained unto her Lawfull age of one & Twenty yeares and the other Twenty pounds thereof being the whole portion which I give unto sd daughter to bee pd that day Two yeares next after the paymt of the sd first Twenty pounds

Item I doe hereby nominate & appoint my Loving wife Millient Draper & my loving Son William Draper Executrix & Executor of this my last Will

Item I desire my loving neighbour Robert Wright to see to the performance of this my Will

Finally I doe hereby annihilate null make voyd frustrate & of none effect all former and other Wills by me ordained & made & doe declare this present Testamt to bee my last Will

In witnesse whereof I have hereunto put my hand & Seale the one and Thirtieth day of January in the foure & Twentieth yeare of the Raigne of our most gratious Sovraigne Lord King Charles the Second & Anno Doni 1671
