Nottingham Archdeaconry Will made 27 March 1831, proved 16 March 1833 by oath of John Daft of Hickling, wheelwright, the son

The last will and testament of Joseph Daft of Hickling in the County of Nottingham, wheelwright

In the name of god amen, I Joseph Daft of Hickling in the County of Nottingham, wheelwright, being of sound mind and memory (thanks be given to god for it) do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following

I give unto my dear son John Daft of Hickling aforesaid the sum of thirty two pounds, five shillings to be raised by him after my decease out of my personal estate and effects in trust to be paid within a year and a day after my death to the several following persons, and in the following proportions 

Namely, I give and bequeath to my dear daughter Sarah Tideman wife of George Tideman of the Town of Nottingham, carver and guilder, the sum of five pounds with my blessing

Also I give and bequeath to my dear son Stephen Daft of the Town of Nottingham, framework knitter, the sum of five pounds with my blessing

Also, I give and bequeath to my dear son Joseph Daft of the Ruddington in the County of Nottingham, framework knitter, the sum of five pounds with my blessing

Also I give and bequeath to my dear daughter Mary Daft of Hickling aforesaid, spinster, the sum of five shillings with my blessing

Also, I give and bequeath to my dear daughter Elizabeth Smith, widow of the late Thomas Smith of Hose in the County of Leicester, labourer, the sum of five pounds with my blessing

Also, I give and bequeath to the seven children of my late dear son Isaac Daft of Tewksbury in the County of Gloucester, framework knitter, the sum of one pound each, as they severally arrive at the age of twenty one years, with my blessing

Also, I give and bequeath to my dear granddaughter Mary Chapman, daughter of Anne wife of George Chapman of Hickling aforesaid, smith, the sum of two pounds ten shillings with my blessing

Also, I give and bequeath to my dear granddaughter Elizabeth Chapman, the daughter of the late Anne wife of George Chapman of Hickling aforesaid, smith, the sum of two pounds ten shillings with my blessing

And lastly I give and bequeath unto my said dear son John Daft of Hickling aforesaid all my houses, lands, tenements and hereditaments, whatsoever and wheresoever, and all my goods, cattle, chattels, stock in trade and all my household furniture and all other my monies and interest on monies and all my real and personal property, whatsoever and wheresoever situate, to be by him enjoyed for ever, subject nevertheless to the true and full payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses, and subject also to the full and faithful payment of all the said several legacies and bequests herein before devised and bequeathed as they severally become due

And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said dear son John Daft of Hickling aforesaid to be my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all other wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of March in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one

I do hereby certify that on the twelfth day of January in the year of our lord 1833 John Daft of Hickling in the County of Nottingham, wheelwright, (the son) the sole executor named in this the last will and testament of Joseph Daft late of Hickling aforesaid in the Diocese of York, wheelwright, deceased, was sworn well and truly to execute and perform the same and that the whole of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased within the Diocese of York to not amount in value to the sum of one hundred pounds.
