This is the last Will and Testament of me John Daft of Hickling in the County of Nottingham Yeoman And as for my worldly Estate which hath pleased God to Bless me with I Give and Dispose thereof as follows

In the first place I Give and Bequeath unto my Eldest Son Robert Daft the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid him within Twelve Months next after the Decease of my Dear wife Hannah Daft

And also I Give and Bequeath unto my Youngest Son John Daft the sum of [hole] pounds to be paid him within Twelve Months next after the Decease of my said Wife Hannah Daft

And also I Give and Bequeath unto my three Daughters Elizabeth Daft Mary Daft and Anne Daft and to each of them the Sum of Sixty pounds apiece to be paid to them and each and every of them respectively within Twelve Months next after the Decease of my said Wife Hannah Daft But in case any or either of my said Daughters Elizabeth Mary and Anne Daft shall happen to Dye without lawfull Issue of their Respective Bodies at any time before the Decease of my said wife Hannah Daft That then and in such case I order direct and it is my Express Will That the Legacy or Legacies of her or them so Dying without Issue as aforesaid shall be paid to the Survivor or Survivors of them my said three Daughters in Equall shares and Proportions

And also I Give and Devise All that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement Homestead with the Dovecoat thereunto adjoining and belonging and Appurtenances scituate standing lying and being in Hickling aforesaid and now in my own Tenure or Occupation And also all those several Pieces and parcels of arrable Land Ley Meadow Pasture and grass ground lying and being dispersedly in the several fields Liberties and Territories of Hickling aforesaid Containing One Oxgang of Land or thereabouts (the same being not Jointured and Setled) and now also in my own Tenure or Occupation unto my said wife Hannah Daft her assignes She from time to time out of the Rents and Profits thereof Paying the yearly Interest of One Hundred pounds now by Mortgage due thereon for and during all and such part of her Natural Life as she shall remain and continue to be my Widow

And from and immediately after her Intermarriage with any other person whatsoever or after her Decease which shall first happen Then I Give and Devise all that my said last mentioned messuage cottage or tenement homestead Dovecoat one oxgang of land and premisses with their and every of their appurtenances unto my Brother Robert Daft and my friend George Mann of Hickling aforesaid shepherd their Heirs and assignes for ever In Trust Nevertheless and to the intent and purpose That they my said Brother Robert Daft and George Mann and the Survivor of them the heirs and assignes of such Survivor Do and shall as soon as conveniently may be thereafter sell and dispose of my said messuage cottage or tenement homestead dovecoat one oxgang of Land and Premises (desiring that my said Eldest Son Robert Daft may have the Option and first refusal thereof at a Moderate Price as a Purchaser for the Same and in Case of such Refusal) Then for the best Price and Prices that can be obtained for the same and with the Monies arising from such sale as aforesaid In the first place Do and shall thereout pay and Discharge the said Mortgage in value of One Hundred pounds now due thereon and its Interest only from the Death or Intermarriage of my said Wife as aforesaid And then in the next place Do and shall pay and apply the Residue of such said Monies for and towards payment of my said five Childrens Legacy and Legacies so given to them Respectively by me as aforesaid as far as the same will Extend

And also all and Singular my Household Goods Stock Cattle Chattells and Personal Estate of what Nature or kind soever (my other Debts and funeral Expences being first paid and Discharged) I Give the free use and occupation thereof and of every part thereof unto my said wife Hannah Daft for and during all and such part of her Natural Life as shall Remain and Continue to be my Widow and from and immediately after her said Intermarriage with any other person whatsoever or after her Decease which shall first happen Then I Give and Bequeath all and singular my said Household Goods other Goods Stock Cattle Chattells and Personal Estate and Premisses as shall so Remain after Payment of my other debts than the said Mortgage and funeral Expences in and after the use and Occupation by my said Wife as aforesaid unto my said Brother Robert Daft and George Mann their Executors and Administrators In Trust Nevertheless and to the End and intent that they the said Robert Daft and George Mann and the Survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor Do and shall as soon as may be thereafter sell and dispose of the said last mentioned Household Goods Personal Estate and Premisses for the best Price and Prices as can or may be obtained for the same and every part thereof and with the monies issuing therefrom Do and shall in the first place thereout pay unto my said five children all such Remainder of their said Respective Legacies as the first mentioned Trust Money by the Sale of the said messuage cottage lands and premisses shall fall short in Discharge of them and every of them And then in the Next place Do and shall pay and Dispose of the Residue of the last mentioned Trust Money by the Sale of the said Household Goods Personal Estate and premisses unto my said five Children Robert John Elizabeth Mary and Anne Daft Share and Share alike first allowing thereout unto my said Trustees All their reasonable costs charges and expenses as they or either of them shall sustain or be put unto in or by reason of the Execution and Management of the said Trust by me in them reposed

And Lastly I do hereby appoint my said wife Hannah Daft full and Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said John Daft the father and Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eighth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Nine
