Alice Daft of Long Clawson 1877 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Alice Daft of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Widow

I Give and Devise all my real Estate consisting of two Closes pieces or parcels of Land or Ground situate lying and being in the Parish of Long Clawson aforesaid in a certain place there called the East Hills Pasture containing by recent survey eight acres two roods and thirty two perches With the rights members and appurtenances as the same are now occupied by Robert Samuel Corner unto my Nephew William Adams Stokes (Son of my late Brother Matthew Stokes) his heirs and assigns for ever Subject to the payment of the following Legacies or sums of money

To my Nephews the Sons of my late Brother John namely John Stokes Christopher Stokes and Reuben Stokes the sum of Fifty pounds each and to Matthew Stokes the sum of Sixty pounds

To the two Daughters of my late Brother Matthew Ann and Alice the sum of Sixty pounds each and to the two children of their deceased Sister Mary the sum of Thirty pounds each and to my Niece Elizabeth the Daughter of my late Brother William the sum of Fifty pounds

All which said Legacies I direct to be paid at the expiration of Six Calendar Months after my death to such of the said Legatees as shall be of the age of twenty one years and if any shall be under that age when they respectively shall attain that age and I direct that in case either of the children of my deceased Niece Mary should die under the age of twenty one years her Legacy shall go to the survivor

I give all my Wearing apparel Plate and Linen to my three Nieces Ann Alice and Elizabeth to be equally divided amongst them and as to the residue of my personal Estate I bequeath the same to the said William Adams Stokes Subject to the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and I appoint the said William Adams Stokes Sole Executor of this my Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this Twenty seventh day of September in the year One thousand eight hundred and seventy seven

Proved at Leicester on the Sixteenth day of November 1877 by the Oath of William Adams Stokes the Nephew of the Deceased (Son of her late Brother Matthew Stokes) the sole Executor to whom administration was granted.

The Testatrix Alice Daft was late of Long Clawson I the County of Leicester Widow and died on the Third day of November 1877 at Long Clawson aforesaid
