Thomas Clayton of Harby 1761 Will

In the Name of God Amen

I Thos Clayton of Harby in the County of Leicester Being Weak of body but of Perfect Mind & Memory Praised be Almighty God Therefore do make & ordain this my Last will & Testament in Manner & form Following that is to say

First of all I Give & bequeath My Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that Gave it hoping thro’ the Death & Passion of Jesus Christ My Saviour to be Joyfully Recd as my Resurrection & as for my body to be Decently buried according to the Discression of my Executor Hereafter Mentioned & as for my temporal & worldly Estate Cattles Chattles & Personal Estate whatsoever I give & Dispose of in the following Manner

First of all I Give & bequeath to My Son Thos Clayton the Sum of Five Pounds to be paid by my Son James in the Space of twelve Months after my Decease

Likewise I Give & bequeath to my Son John Clayton the Sum of Fifteen Pounds to be paid by my Executor hereafter mentioned

Also I give to my Daughter Sarah Shillcock the Sum of Five Pounds

Also I Give & bequeath to my Daughter Elizth Hart the Sum of Five pounds to be pd by my Executor

Also I Give And bequeath to my Daughter Mary Twenty Pounds

Likewise I Give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary Five pounds Worth of Housel Goods

Item I Give & bequeath to my Granddaughter that is my daughter Marys Daughter Elizth the Sum of one Pounds Five Shillings a year till she come to the age of ten years to bear date at my Death my Debts my Legacies my funeral Expences being first Duly paid and Discharged then all the Rest of my Goods Cattles Chattles & Personal Estate unbequeathed I Give and bequeath to my Son James Clayton Makeing & ordaining Him full Sole And only Executor of this my Last will And Testament hereby utterly Revoking and Disanulling all Former wills in any wise made by me [the seeming disjunction in this paragraph reflects the original]
