Henry Carrington of Stathern 1762 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Henry Carrington of Stathern in the County of Leicester frameworknitter being of good Sound and disposing mind Memory and Understanding Do make Publish and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)

First I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and my Body I Committ to the Earth to be decently interred according to the discretion of my Executors herein after named And as for such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me withall in this life I do hereby Give devise and Bequeath the Same as follows, Namely

I do direct and desire that all Such Debts as I shall really owe at the time of my decease my funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving this my will shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease be fully paid and Satisfied

I Give and bequeath unto my Sons in Law Thomas Goodwin and James Whittle both of Stathern aforesaid All that my Messuage or Tenement Homestead and Dovecoat with the Appurtenances Scituate and being in Stathern aforesaid now in the Occupation of the said Henry Carrington and to their and each of their heirs and Assignes Share and Share alike Jointly

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Hannah Thorley All that my Messuage or Tenement Scituate and being in Stathern aforesaid now in the Tenure of Occupation of John Barnes And Also one Stocking frame Gage Twenty three now in the Occupation of Robert Mason of Barkston in the said County of Leicester And also All my Household Goods Implements of Household Stuff as Woolen Linnen Brass Pewter Clock and all other things whatsoever now being in my present dwelling House (except my wearing apparell) where I now inhabit and dwell for and during the Term of her Natural Life and from and after her decease

I Give devise and bequeath the same unto my Two Grand Daughters Esther and Anne Thorley (But my desire is that if in Case my Son in Law Thomas Thorley now a Soldier should return to Stathern again then my will is that my said Sons in Law Thomas Goodwin and James Whittle and their heirs or Assignes should have and Enjoy the said Messuage or Tenement & Stocking frame In Trust nevertheless for the use behoof and benefit of my said Two Grandaughters Esther and Anne Thorley Till they should attain the Age of Twenty one years or daies of Marriage which should first happen share & share alike

Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Said Sons in Law Thomas Goodwin and James Whittle the Sum of Thirty pounds to be raised out of my Estate and Effects In Trust Nevertheless that they shall place the same out at Interest within twelve Months next after my decease to and for the use behoof and benefit of my said two Grandaughters Easter [sic] and Anne Thorley till they shall attain the age of Twenty one years or Days of Marriage which shall first happen Share and Share alike

Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rebecca Linthwait the Sum of one Shilling and to my Daughter Sarah Carrington the Sum of one Shilling to be paid within twelve Months after my decease by my Executors hereafter Named

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Sons in Law Thomas Goodwin and James Whittle all and Singular my ready money Bonds Notes of Hand Debts Wearing apparell and all other my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever as well real as personal (not before bequeathed)

And I do make my said Sons in Law Thomas Goodwin and James Whittle Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby Revoke and make void all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Henry Carrington the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this Twenty Second day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Henry Carrington the Testator for and as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have Subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto in his presence and at this Request
