In the name of god amen The fyvethe daie of Auguste in the yere of oure lord god one thowsand five hundred eightie and one I Joyse Brokesbye gentlewoman of Grimston in the countie of Leicester widdowe beinge perfecte in minde and memorie (Thankes be to god therefore) Doe make and ordaine this my laste will and testamente in manner and fourme followinge

First I bequeath my sowle into the handes of allmightie god, And my bodye to the earthe from whence it came

Also I will that whearas Richard Wyitinge my sonne in lawe owethe me fortie poundes as appearethe by his obligacionne, that he shall have thereof thirtie poundes as a legacie to him and Alice my daughter his wife And thother Tenne poundes residue I will that he shall paie unto Thomas Brokesbye my sone within twoe monnethes after my decease accordinge unto a bonde thereof unto him made

Item I that whearas Richard Barrett my Sonne in lawe oweth me fortie poundes by a like obligacion he shall have thereof thirtie poundes as a legacie to him and Agnes my daughter his wife And the other tenne poundes residue I will that he shall paye unto Bartholomewe Brokesbye my sonne within twoe monethes after my decease accordinge unto a bonde thereof unto him made

Also I geve and bequeathe to Frauncis Brokesbye my eldeste Sonne thirtie poundes, and to his sonne Roberte tenne poundes, to be paide by my executors within twoe monethes after my decease accordinge

Also I geve and bequeathe to Bartholomewe, my Sone to be paide by my executors within twoe monnethes after my decease twentie pounds over and besides the said tenne pounds whiche he is to receave of Richard Barrett my Sonne in lawe as is before lymmytted

Also I geve to the said Bartholomewe fower kyne and twoe heiffers, one trusbed with one mattresse one featherbed one boulster twoe pillowes twoe blancketts twoe paire of sheetes and one coverlett, that he shall suffer John Bennett my sonne in lawe and Elizabethe his wife my daughter quietlie to have and enioye that twentie poundes whiche the saide Bartholomewe to him hathe already paide and lente withowte anny sute or other trowbles therefore

Item I geve unto Thomas Brookesbie my sonne twentie poundes, over and besides the saide Tenne poundes whiche he is to receave of Richarde Whitinge my sonne in lawe, as is before lymmytted

Also the said Thomas my sonne shall have fower kyne twoe heiffers one Trusbed withe like furniture as before to the saide Bartholomewe ys lymytted, and also fortie of my best Sheepe to be equallie devided to the saide Bartholomewe and Thomas my Sonnes to be paid by my executors within two monnethes after my decease

Also I geve and bequeathe to John Bennett my Sonne in lawe and Elizabethe his wife my daughter that twentie pounds whiche theie have already receyved of my sonne Bartholomewe

Item I geve and bequeathe to Ralphe Brookesby fortie shillings to be paide by my executors within twoe monnethes after my decease

Item I geve and bequeath to the poore of … of Grimstone Sixe shillinges and eight pence to be distributed at the discrecionne of my executors within … monnethes after my decease

Also I geve and bequeathe toward the reparcionne of the Churche of Grimstone five shillinges to be paide by my executors within twoe monnethes after my decease

Item I geve and bequeathe to everie one of my godchildren twelve pence to be paide by my executors

The rest of my goods moveable and unmovable unbequeathed (my debts beinge paide and my funeral performed) I geve and bequethe to Frannces Bartholomewe and Thomas my Sonnes to be equallie devided amonngest theme

And fynallye I doe ordaine and make the said Richard Whitinge and Richard Barrette my Sonnes in lawe executors of this my last will and Testamente And I geve to either of theme for theire paines therein, besydes the Legacies before mencionned twentie shillings

Also I doe make Frannces Brookesbye & [blank] overseers of this my laste will and testamente And I geve to either of theme twentie shillings to be paide by me executors within twoe monnethes after my decease
