Joseph Bowley of Nether Broughton 1847 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Bowley of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Farmer

I give and devise unto my Son William Bowley and to his heirs and assigns All that my Wind Mill and all the Machinery therein and Mill Close situate in Nether Broughton aforesaid containing about Three acres and a half subject nevertheless to his paying to my Executors hereinafter named the Sum of Three hundred pounds at the expiration of twelve months from my death with Interest at Four per cent from my death to be applied as hereinafter mentioned

I give and devise unto my son Henry Bowley and to his heirs and assigns All that my Close in Nether Broughton aforesaid called the Bottom Close containing Five acres and three roods or thereabouts subject nevertheless to his paying thereout to my Executors hereinafter named the Sum of One hundred pounds with Interest at four per cent from my death at the expiration of twelve months from my death

I give and devise unto my Son James Bowley and to this heirs and assigns All that my Messuage or Tenement in which my Son William resides in Nether Broughton aforesaid with the Home Close and appurtenances thereto adjoining free from all Incumbrances

I direct my Executors to divide my Household Furniture, Linen, Brewing Vessels and all other my household Effects equally between my four Sons, William, Henry, James and Thomas

As to all my Farming Stock Implements of Husbandry and all other my personal Estate and Effects and the said two Sums of Three hundred pounds and One hundred pounds charged on my said real Estates as aforesaid I direct my Executors to pay my Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences and pay and transfer the residue to my Son Thomas absolutely

And I appoint Robert Barnes of Welby Lodge Farmer and Robert Shelton of Nether Broughton Lodge Farmer joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Joseph Bowley the Testator have hereunto set my hand this Sixth day of January One thousand eight hundred and forty six

Signed published and declared by the said Joseph Bowley the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses

Robert Barnes of Welby Lodge in the County of Leicester Farmer and Robert Shelton of Nether Broughton Lodge in the same County Farmer the joint Executors in this Will named were duly sworn to the Truth and faithful performance thereof as usual, and that the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased do not amount in value to the Sum of Four hundred and fifty pounds and that the deceased died on the Second day of July last past
