Thomas Blankley of Stathern 1754 Will

In the Name of God amen I Thomas Blankley of Stathorn in the County of Leicester farmer being of a sound and perfect memory do make this my Last will and Testament in manner following

First I commend my Soul into the hands of almighty God that Gave it me

My body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discresion of my Executors hereafter mentioned

As to my worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to possess me of I Give and Bequeath as followeth

Imprimis I Give and Bequeath unto George Blankley of Eaton my Eldest son all my personall estate as stock of all sorts and crop and household goods of at and belonging to the said farm at Eaton with the possession thereof as I now hold it of his Grace the Duke of Rutland he the said my son George his heirs or Executors paying or causing to be paid the just sum of Eighty pounds of Lawfull money which sum of Eighty pounds I Give and Bequeath unto Richard Blankley my youngest son as his Legacy And my will is that my son George pays it to my said so Richard at four payments that is the sum of Twenty pounds the first year after my decease Twenty pounds the second year Twenty pounds the third year and twenty pounds making in all the sum of Eighty pounds the fourth year after my Decease

And if it so happe (as God …) that my said son Richard should die a Bachelor before all the four payments above mentioned be paid him then my will is that the payment or payments which shall be unpaid at this death be equally divided and paid to my six sons and my daughter share and share alike

Item I Give and Bequeath to Thomas Blankley my Second Son all those two oxgangs of Land lying dispersed abroad in the open field of Stathorn in the County of Leicester with house and homestead all which I purchased of Henry Mantle as the writings Mentions & makes plainly appear I Give and Bequeath all the said purchase unto my said son Thomas Blankley to him his heirs Executors and assigns for ever

Also I give and Bequeath to Thomas Blankly my son over and above besides the lands above mentioned all my stock of all sorts and crop and all my household goods of in and belonging to my house wherein I now dwell in Stathorn & the farm which I now occupy in Stathern that is all my personall estate at Stathorn I Give to my said son Thomas Blankley he my said son Thomas Blankley keeping and providing for my son John Blankley meat drink washing lodging apparrell with all necessarys of life for and during the natural life of him my said son John Blankley and if it so happen as my son Thomas Blankley should die before my son John Blankley then my will is that his heirs or Executors shall take the same care of my son John Blankley for and during his natural life as is before mentioned

Item I Give and Bequeath unto William Blankley my third son the sum of one shilling

Item I Give and Bequeath to Roger Blankley my son the sum of one shilling

Item I Give and Bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth now the wife of Anthony Rogers the sum of five shillings which sum of five shillings with Williams shilling & Rogers shillings making in all seven shillings to be paid by my son Thomas Blankley in the space of twelve months after my decease

And I make ordain and appoint my son George Blankley and my son Thomas Blankley Executors in trust of this my last will and Testament not doubting but they will perform it according to the true intent and meaning thereof

In Wittness whereof I have sett my hand and seal this tenth day of November in the year 1744

Signed and Sealed and Declared by the said Thomas Blankley to be his Last Will & Testament in the presence of us who was present at the signing and sealing thereof
