John Barlow of Harby 1791 Will

In the Name of God Amen the Eight Day of October 1783 I John Barlow of Harby in the County of Leicester Farmer being very Sick and Weak in Body but of Perfect Mind and Memory Thanks be given unto God therefore Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say

Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it

And as touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this Life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following Manner and Form

First I give to My Daughter Mary the Wife of William March the Sum of Twenty Pounds of lawful Money of England

Likewise I give to My Daughter Elisabeth the Wife of Thos Stokes the Sum of One Shilling

Likewise I give to My Grandson Thomas Barlow One Close that I purchased in Broughton Liberty Called the Upper Dale

Likewise I make My Son John Barlow my Sole Executrix [sic] of this My last Will and Testament all and Singular My Lands Messuages and Tenements by him freely to be Possessed and enjoyed

And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies and Bequests and Executors by Me in any ways before named Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set My Hand and Seal the Day and Year above Writen

Signed Sealed Published pronounced and delivered by the Said John Barlow to be his last Will and Testament in the Presence of Us the Subscribers
