Articles of Agreement for the Enclosure Act 1714.

Articles of Agreement Presented made Concluded and Agreed upon the Two and Twentieth day of March in the first year of the reigne of our Sovereign Lord George by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith Anno Dni 1714 Between us whose names are hereto subscribed Being freeholders Inhabitants or occupiers of Land in Hickling in the County of Nottingham of the one part and Robert Garton and William Marrott both of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester yeomen Trustees by us unanimously nominated and chosen of the other  parte

Witnesseth That We being minded and Agreed for the benefitt and Advantage of us and also of the rest of the Freeholders and Inhabitants of Hickling aforesaid Not only  Expin the pasture in the Woodfield on Hickling aforesaid as it was Fenced out and used the last year But also to take in and fence a pasture in the other Two Fields and to have and to hold and usd all the said pastures for the Term of six years from the day and date of these presents in such manner as is hereafter mentioned and expressed And such pasture in the Barland field of Hickling aforesaid shall contain all the Top of the field from Stockwells hades upwards and shall be fenced from High Thrubell in a direct line on Stockwell hafes to Vell  Greensides and that the pasture to be taken in in the Nether Field of Hickling aforesaid shall conrain all that part of the fiel above Upper Colstongates and all on the Northside Clawsongates and that the fence thereof shall be made from the Grange hill side on Colstongates to Clawsongate and along the same unto the Brook called Smite And that when any of the sate? fields shall in Course be sown with Barly or Wheat then the pasture in such field shall not be stored with goods but shall be laid and kept for meadow that year and be mown by the respective owners of the Land therein and when any other of the said fields shall in Course be sown with Beans or pease that then we will in such year stock such field with a reasonable stock of great goods and portionably to the quantity of acres that shall belong to us respectively in such pasture And when any of such fields shall be fallow in Course That then the pasture in such fields  shall be eaten with the proportionably as aforesaid except that pasture in the Wood field for this year only which is now agreed to be Eaten wuth great goods as it was last year.

Now therefore we whose hands and seales are hereunder set do severally for ourselves and severall Here Executors and Administrators Covenant promise and Agree to and with the said Robert Garton and William Marriott their Heires and assignes by there presents in manner following that noe nor any of us will or shall for ourselves or for any person or persons whatsoever with our or their Trains plow up any Land of the af

oresaid ………….. fields above mentioned to be taken in to pasture during the ………. ……. from the date of these presents But that we and our……………. as soon as next harvest is got in ……………………….  the pasture in the Nether field afpresaid and have the same ………………………….. and Twenteth day of March one Thousand seven hundred …………………… Also that the Pasture in Barland field ……………… ……. field out as aforesaid shall be  ……ed on or before the five and Twentieth day of March one Thousand seven hundred and and seventeen And th.. ………….. …… and evey of us shall and will pay an equal parte and portion of money ti the said Robert Garton and William Marriott ……………. towards the charge of fencing as wel of the said pasture ……………….. the Woodfield that is already fenced as also of …….er Two pastures thrtrin Covenanted to be fenced out as aforesaid ………….. to the quantity of   acres of Land that shall belong to us in………….  respective And also will pay such am……….. share and proportion towards the Charge of having the said pastures  fenced  and surveyed And further also that we and every of us shall ……..
