Samuel Wright of Upper Broughton 1840 Will

I Samuel Wright of Over Broughton in the County of Nottingham Esquire being of sound mind and good health by the mercy of God do make this my last Will and Testament as follows

First I commit my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing for a remission of my sins by the merits and mediation of my Saviour Jesus Christ and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred in the Churchyard of Over Broughton and that it be a walking funeral

My estates at Lowdham and Gunthorpe being by my Fathers will already disposed of and in which I have only a life interest

Having paid to my brother John Wright Esquire £500 and £100 for five successive years amounting to £1000 in consideration of my said brother having covenanted to pay £100 per annum to my beloved wife Anne Wright by half yearly payments from my decease secured upon his estate at Langar by a document executed by him and his receipt for the said £1000 now in my possession I will and direct that my wife Anne Wright receive the same

I will and direct that all my just debts funeral expences and the expence of proving this my will be paid out of my personal property as soon as conveniently may be after my decease

And as to all my worldly Estate real and personal whatsoever and wheresoever I give devise and bequeath the same to my dear wife Anne Wright her heirs and assigns for ever namely all that my freehold messuage and tenement wherein I now reside with the garden and appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being in Over Broughton in the County of Nottingham aforesaid

I also give devise and bequeath all those my other freehold messuages and tenements with the close and appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being in the parish of Hickling in the said County of Nottingham and now in the occupation of Anne Collishaw John Hickling and John Marsh all of which I purchased of Joseph Wild of Over Broughton aforesaid

I also give devise and bequeath unto my said wife Anne Wright all my mortgages and monies securities for money rents due at my decease Carriage and Coach horses Cows household furniture plate books linnen china goods and chattles whatsoever in my dwelling house and appurtenances thereto belonging

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Anne Wright sole Executrix and residuary Legatee and I do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I Samuel Wright the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Samuel Wright as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto

Proved at London the 9th March 1840 before the Judge by the Oath of Anne Wright Widow the Relict the sole Executrix to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Comon duly to administer
