William Woods of Long Clawson 1862 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Woods of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer made in manner and form following that is to say

I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Elizabeth for her absolute use and benefit Twenty shares in the Eastern Counties Railway Company and Fourteen shares in the Norfolk Estuary Company Also the Legacy or sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds to be retained by her out of my personal Estate

I give and bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth Goodwin the Legacy of Fifty pounds

Unto her two daughters my Nieces the Legacies of Twenty five pounds each

Unto my Nephew Edward Broome and my Niece Mary Ann Broome the Legacies of Twenty five pounds each

All which said Legacies I direct to be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named within twelve Calendar Months next after my decease out of my personal Estate

I give and devise All my real Estate situate at Long Clawson aforesaid which I purchased of Mr John Orson and now in my own occupation Unto my said Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto my illegitimate Son William Edward Catlin Woods now residing with me and his issue But in case he shall depart this life without leaving lawful issue him surviving Then I give and devise my said real Estate unto my Nephew the said Edward Broome his heirs and assigns

And as to for and concerning the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever Subject to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expences the Legacies by me given and bequeathed I give and bequeath the same unto my said Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath the same unto the said William Edward Catlin Woods of whom I appoint my said Wife Guardian during his minority

And lastly I appoint my said Wife Executrix of this my Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this third day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty two

On the seventh day of October 1862 the Will of William Woods late of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer was proved by the Oath of Elizabeth Woods Widow the Relict of the deceased the sole Executrix named in the said Will she having been first sworn duly to administer

Sworn under £1,500 and that the Testator died on the nineteenth day of February 1862
