This is the last Will and Testament of me William Wood of Wykeham in the County of Leicester Farmer

I give and bequeath all my Furniture Farming Stock and all other my Personal Estate and Effects unto my Executors Upon Trust to pay my Debts, Funeral and Testamentary Expences and with the residue Upon Trust to carry on my Farming Business during the life of my Wife, for her maintenance support and benefit and after her death Upon Trust to pay her Funeral Expences and a Legacy of Nineteen guineas to my Son John and a like legacy of Nineteen guineas to the Wife of my Son David, and then divide the residue of my Property equally between my children, George, Joseph, Rhoda, Jonathan, Isaac, and Rebecca Cook

I direct that the said legacy of Nineteen guineas shall be paid to the said Wife of my Son David and that her receipt only shall be a good discharge for the same

If any of my children shall die in my lifetime leaving issue I direct my Executors to apply such share for the benefit of his or her issue according to their discretion and during their minorities if thought prudent so to do

I expressly direct that my Trustees and Executors shall not be answerable for any loss of property that may be occasioned by their carrying on my Farming Business knowing that it is a Business of considerable risk

I also direct that it shall not be necessary to keep or produce any accounts showing the Farming transactions, knowing that a great difficulty and additional trouble would be imposed upon my Executors by their so doing

And I direct that my Executors shall not be controuled by any of my children in the management of my Farming business

And I appoint my Friend Henry Theobald Hanbury of Welby, Farmer and my Nephew John Wood of Colston Bassett Farmer Executors and Trustees of this my Will for the purposes aforesaid

Signed published and declared by the said Testator as his last Will in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

This is a Codicil to the above written Will of me the above named William Wood

I revoke the legacy of nineteen Guineas bequeathed by my said Will to the Wife of my Son David she being dead

I bequeath to my Son George a Legacy of Fifty pounds and to my daughter Rhoda a Legacy of Fifty pounds and I direct that such Legacies shall be in addition to the shares of my residuary estate which George and Rhoda will take under my said Will and in all other respects I confirm my said Will

Signed by the said William Wood the Testator as a Codicil to his last Will in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witness and we certify that the said Codicil was read over to the said William Wood in our presence and that he seemed to understand the same

Proved at Leicester with a Codicil the Twenty eighth day of March 1876 by the Oaths of Henry Theobald Hanbury and John Wood Nephew of the deceased the Executors named in the Will to whom administration was granted

The Testator William Wood was late of Wykeham in the County of Leicester Farmer and died on the fourteenth day of February 1876 at Wykeham aforesaid
