Henry Wood of Old Dalby 1796 Will

In the name of God Amen I Henry Wood of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Grazier being weak and sick in Body but of a well disposing Mind Memory and Understanding praised be Almighty God for the same do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I Give and Devise to my Daughter Elizabeth Wood All that my Nether Close of Pasture Ground with the Appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being in the Lordship of Frisby upon the Wreak in the said County of Leicester containing by Estimation eighteen Acres (be the same more or less) and now in the Tenure of John Norman To hold unto her my said Daughter Elizabeth Wood her Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath to my said Daughter Elizabeth Wood the Sum of five Guineas to be paid by my Son Stephen Wood hereinafter named immediately after my Decease

Also I Give and Devise to my Sons Thomas Wood and Henry Wood all that Piece or Parcell of Ground lying and being Hickling in the County of Nottingham containing by estimation Sixteen Acres (be the same more or less) and now in the Tenure of Thomas Mills To hold unto them my said Sons Thomas and Henry Wood to be equally divided between them and take the same as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants and to them and their Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and bequeath to my said Son Thomas Wood the sum of Two hundred Pounds and all Interest due thereon at the Time of my Decease which said Sum before mentioned is by Virtue of a Bond due to me and that the said Obligation be delivered up to my said Son Thomas Wood by my Executor hereinafter named after my Decease

And also I Give and Devise to my said Son Henry Wood all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement with the Orchard Homestead and Appurtenances (which I purchased of John Eite) thereto belonging situate and being in Hickling aforesaid To hold unto him my said Son Henry Wood his Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and bequeath to my said Son Henry Wood all the Personal Estate in Wykin in the said County of Leicester to hold unto him my said Son Henry Wood Subject nevertheless to the Payment of six hundred Pounds and that the said Real and Personal Estate herein before by me given Devised and bequeathed unto my said Son Henry Wood shall stand and be subject to the Payment of the aforesaid Sum of six hundred Pounds and all Interest due thereon to my Trustees hereinafter mentioned to the Day of my Death

Also I Give and Devise to my Son Stephen Wood all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement Orchard and Homestead thereunto belonging And also all them two Closes or Grounds Inclosed containing four Acres (be the same more or less) with their Appurtenances situate in Hickling aforesaid and which said Pieces or Parcells of Ground I purchased of Thomas Lockwood And also all that my upper Close of Pasture Ground with its Appurtenances lying and being in the middle Field of Frisby upon the Wreak aforesaid containing eight Acres (be the same more or less) And also all that my Close of Meadow or Pasture Ground in Frisby aforesaid with its Appurtenances containing by Estimation two Acres one Rood and thirty two Perches (be the same more or less) which said Premises herein last Devised I Give to my said Son Stephen Wood To hold unto him his Heirs and Assigns forever

And also I Give and Bequeath to my said Son Stephen Wood all my personal Estate in Old Dalby aforesaid (Subject to the Payment of all Rents due on the Farm which I now occupy in Dalby aforesaid) To hold unto him my said Son Stephen Wood But my mind and Will is that the Real Property hereinbefore Devised shall stand and be made subject to the Payment of two hundred Pounds and Interest thereon to my Trustees hereinafter named that is the Real Property herein last Devised subject to the last mentioned Sum payable from my said Son Stephen Wood

Also I Give and bequeath to my three Trustees Mr Henry James of Barnston and Mr George Mann of Hickling both in the County of Nottingham and Mr John Garton of Old Dalby in the said County of Leicester whom I appoint as Trustees for to receive the Sum of Six hundred Pounds to be paid by my said Son Thomas Woods out of the Real and Personal Estate before by me given Devised and Bequeathed by me to my said Son Henry Wood And also I give and bequeath to my said three Trustees the before mentioned Sum of two hundred Pounds to be paid by my said Son Stephen Wood out of the Real Property herein before Given and Devised to him by me to my said Son Stephen Wood In Trust for the uses hereinafter mentioned (that is to say)

To pay and discharge one Obligation on Mortgage due from me for the Sum of five hundred Pounds and Interest thereon payable to Mr John Marriott of Melton Mowbray from the day of my Decease Also to pay and discharge one Obligation on Bond or Note due from me to Mr Robert Garton of Long Claxton the Sum of one hundred Pounds and Interest from the Day of my Decease Also to pay and discharge one Obligation on Bond or Note due from me to Mr Jarvis Simpson of Wymondham the Sum of one hundred Pounds and Interest from the Day of my Decease And also to pay and discharge one Obligation on Note or Bond due from me to the late Widow Shillcross at Hose Grange the Sum of one hundred Pounds and Interest from the Day of my Decease

And Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Son Henry Wood whole and sole Executor (excepting what is hereinbefore bequeathed by me Henry Wood) of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills at any Time heretofore made

In Witness hereof I the said Testator Henry Wood have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this twenty second Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety two

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Testator Henry Wood as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have Subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto (at the request of the said Testator) and in his presence and in the presence of each other which said Will containing three Sheets of Paper to the two first I have set my hand and to the third and last I have set my hand and Seale
