This is the last Will and Testament of me William Wilford of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Farmer

I will that all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expenses be in the first Place paid and discharged by my Executors hereinafter named

I give to my dear Wife Ann Wilford All my Household Goods and Furniture to and for her own use

I devise all that my undivided moiety equal half part or share (the whole into two equal part or shares being considered as divided) of and in all that messuage or tenement and homestead with the rights members and appurtenances thereunto adjoining and belonging situate standing and being in Long Clawson aforesaid now in the occupation of my Son Edward Wilford his undertenants or assigns unto my said Wife for her Life And after her Decease unto my said Son Edward Wilford and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life And from and after his decease I devise the same unto his Son William Wilford his heirs and assigns for ever

I devise All that messuage or tenement and homestead with the outbuildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging And also all those three several Closes of Land containing thirteen acres or thereabouts situate standing lying and being in Long Clawson aforesaid lately purchased by me of Mr George Hawley’s Devisees and now in my own occupation And also all that Cottage or tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Long Clawson aforesaid now in the occupation of William Simons or his undertenants unto my said Wife Ann Wilford and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural life

And from and after her Decease I devise the same unto and to the Use of my Friends Charles Scoffin of Hougham in the County of Lincoln Grazier and Thomas Newcome of Braunston in the said County of Leicester Grazier their Heirs and assigns for ever In trust that they the said Charles Scoffin and Thomas Newcome or the Survivor of them his heirs or assigns do and shall immediately after the Decease of my said Wife or at such time or times as they shall think proper either by public auction or private contract and either together or in Lots as they shall think fit absolutely sell and dispose of the same Messuages Closes hereditaments and Real Estate for the best Price and prices and most money that can be reasonably had or gotten for the same And do and shall (after paying thereout unto my Grandson William Wilford the Sum of Fifty pounds of lawful money current in Great Britain and my Grandson Edward Wilford the Sum of One hundred pounds of like lawful money to and for their own respective proper use) stand and be possessed of the Monies to arise by such Sale or Sales of my said Real Estate and of the Rents and Profits thereof to be received by my said Trustees in the mean time Upon the Trusts and to and for the Ends Intents and Purposes hereinafter mentioned and declared of and concerning the same

And for facilitating such Sale or Sales of my said Real Estates as aforesaid or any part or parts thereof my Will and Mind is that the Receipt and Receipts of my said Trustees and the Survivor of them his heirs or assigns under their or his hands or hand shall be a sufficient Discharge and sufficient Discharges to the purchaser and purchasers thereof or of any part thereof his her and their heirs executors administrators and assigns for so much of the purchase money and purchase monies for which such receipt and receipts shall be so given And that after such receipt and receipts as aforesaid such purchaser or purchasers his her and their heirs executors administrators and assigns shall be absolutely discharged of and from the same and shall not be answerable or accountable for any Loss Misapplication or Nonapplication Thereof or of any part thereof

I give All the Rest and Residue of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind or nature soever unto my sd Wife Ann Wilford and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life

And after her decease I give the same unto the said Charles Scoffin and Thomas Newcome their Executors Administrators and assigns Upon trust that they or the Survivor of them his executors administrators or assigns do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of my said Wife sell and convert into ready money all such part and parts thereof as shall not consist of money or Securities for Money and do and shall call receive and get in all such Part and Parts thereof as shall consist of Money or Securities for money and do and shall stand and be possessed of such monies so to be received and gotten in as aforesaid Upon such and the like Trusts as are hereinafter mentioned with respect to the Monies to arise by Sale of my said Real Estate

And my Will and Mind is and I do hereby declare and direct that my said Trustees and the Survivor of them his heirs executors administrators and assigns do and shall stand and be possessed of and interested in as well the monies to be raised received and gotten in from my personal Estate and Effects as the monies to arise by Sale of my said Real Estates as aforesaid In trust for the equal benefit of all and every the Child and Children (except my Grandson William Wilford) of my said Son Edward Wilford to be paid to them at their respective Ages of twenty one years and the Interest of their respective Shares in the mean time to be applied by my said Trustees in for and towards their respective Maintenance Education and bringing up And in case any one or more of my said Grandchildren shall depart this life under the age of twenty one years without leaving issue him her or them surviving then I will that the Share or Shares of him her or them so dying as well original as accruing under this Clause shall go and be divided unto and equally between and amongst the Survivors of them (except my said Grandson William Wilford) if more than one, and if but one, shall go and be paid to such one Survivor at their his or her respective Age or Ages of twenty one years The Share or Shares of my said Grandson Edward Wilford to be over and above and in addition to the Legacy of One hundred pounds I have above given and bequeathed to him

And I do nominate constitute and appoint the said Charles Scoffin and Thomas Newcome Executors of this my Will Provided always and my Will and Mind is that my said Trustees and Executors shall not be answerable or accountable for the Acts Deeds Receipts or Disbursements of each other and that they shall not be liable to make good any Loss which shall or may happen without their respective wilful neglect or default And that they shall and may in the first Instance by and out of the said Trust monies and Premises from time to time retain to and reimburse themselves and himself respectively and also pay and allow to his and their Co-trustee and Co-trustees all such costs charges and expenses as they respectively shall pay incur sustain expend or be put unto in the execution of the Trusts hereby in them respectively reposed or in any wise relating thereto

And I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Testator William Wilford have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the fourth Day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty five

Let a Probate be made to Charles Scoffin of Hougham in the County of Lincoln Farmer and Grazier and Thomas Newcome of Branston by Belvoir in the County of Leicester Farmer and Grazier the joint Executors named in the will of the deceased who died on the 14th July last

Goods chattels and credits without deducting any debts owing therefrom did not amount in value to £300
