Thomas Wilford of Scalford 1800 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Wilford the Elder of Scalford in the County of Leicester Grazier made this Twenty third Day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine as follows (that is to say)

I Give unto my Dear Wife Hannah Wilford my four Post Bedstead with Blue and White Check Furniture with the Feather Bed Bolster two Pillows two Pair of Sheets and Pillow Cases with the Blankets thereto belonging My Walnut Chest of Drawers my round Oak Claw Table six flag Bottom Chairs which she shall chuse one Brass Kettle and one Tea Kettle to and for her own Use

Also I Give and Bequeath all my Moneys Household Goods other Goods furniture Plate Linnen China Ware Stock Crop Implements of Husbandry and all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore specifically disposed of unto my two Sons William Wilford and Thomas Wilford their Executors and Administrators to and for their own Use and Benefit Subject nevertheless to the Payment of all my just Debts funeral Expences and the Charges of Proving this my Will Provided always and my Will and meaning is And I do hereby declare that my said Moneys and the residue of my personal Estate is so as aforesaid Given to my said Sons upon this Express Condition

That each of my said Sons William Wilford and Thomas Wilford shall pay or Cause to be paid unto my said Dear Wife Hannah Wilford and her Assigns one Clear Annuity or Yearly Sum of six Pounds during the Term of her natural Life by four Quarterly Payments that is to say the twenty fifth Day of March the twenty fourth Day of June the twenty ninth Day of September and the twenty first Day of December in each Year the first Payment thereof to begin and be made on such of the said Days of Payment as shall first happen after my Decease

And in Case it shall happen that Either of my said Sons William Wilford or Thomas Wilford shall refuse or neglect to pay unto my said Wife or her Assigns the said Annuity or yearly Sum of Six Pounds in manner aforesaid as the same shall become due except as is hereinafter mentioned Then and in such Case as to the Share of such of my said Sons as shall so refuse or neglect to pay the said Annuity as aforesaid my Will is and I do hereby Give such Share or Shares unto my said Wife Hannah Wilford to and for her own Use and Benefit Provided always that in Case my said Wife Hannah Wilford shall live with either of my said Sons without paying any Thing for her Board or Lodging which it is my Wish she should do Then and in such Case it shall and may be lawful for such of my said Sons with whom she shall so live as aforesaid to Deduct and retain so much of the said Annuity of six Pounds as accrued due during such residence of my said Wife Hannah Wilford with her as aforesaid as a Consideration for her Board and Lodging during such Time

Also I Give unto my Son William Wilford my Tenant Right in my Farms at Scalford but my will is that my Son Thomas shall Continue in the House and have a Home there so long as my said Son William shall Continue Tenant to the said Farm and my said Son Thomas shall remain unmarried

And I do hereby appoint my said Sons William Wilford and Thomas Wilford joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year first above written

Let probat be granted to William Wilford & Thomas Wilford joint Executors within named, they being sworn to the due execution of the said Will & also made oath that the whole of the deceased’s personal Estate at the time of his death did not amount in value to the sum of One thousand pounds
