This is a probate copy which is headed “Joseph Wilford formerly of Scalford late of Leicester”

This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Wilford of Scalford in the County of Leicester Farmer

I give and devise all my Messuages Lands and real Estate of which I shall die possessed situate at Scalford aforesaid or elsewhere unto my Niece Mary McDougal her heirs and assigns for ever and in case she dies under the age of Twenty one years I give and devise all my said real Estate to my Sister Ann McDougal her heirs and assigns for ever

I charge my said real Estate with the payment of so much of my debts as my personal Estate shall fall short of discharging

I direct that my Trustee and Executor shall receive the Rents of my said real Estate during the minority of my said Niece and apply the same towards the Payment of the Interest of any debts I may owe and apply the remainder for her maintenance and education

I give all my Farming Stock Implements Furniture and all other my personal Estate and Effects to my said Niece Mary McDougal and direct that my Executor shall pay thereout my debts funeral and testamentary expences so far as the same will extend

I direct that it shall be lawful for my Executor to deduct out of the Money coming to his hands all expences that he may be put to in carrying out the Trusts of this my Will And I direct that he shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss which may happen to any of my property

And I appoint my Friend Richard Sharp of Scalford aforesaid Trustee and Executor of this my Will and give him a Legacy of Ten Pounds for his trouble

Signed published and declared by the said Joseph Wilford the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses

Proved 28th June 1859 by the Oath of Richard Sharpe (in the Will spelt “Sharp”) the sole Executor to whom was granted execution
