John Whittaker of Nether Broughton 1702 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen I John Whitaker of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester labourer being weakly & infirm as to my bodily health but of good and perfect memory & understanding (I praise God therefore) do make & ordayn this my last Will and Testamt in manner & form as followeth

First I do freely resign and yield up my soule into the hands of Almighty God my most gracious & loving father, firmly believing & hoping for to enjoy everlasting life & Salvacon by and through the alone & alsufficient meritts and satisfaction of my most blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ

My body I comitt to the earth whence it came to be interred at the discretion of my executor herein after named & appointed

And concerning my temporall estate I dispose as followeth

First I give & devise All my Cottage house or Tente wherein I now dwell in Nether Broughton aforesaid with all and singular the houses buildings homesteads orchards gardens Comons profits Comodities hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging unto my loveing brother Robert Whitaker and to his heires and assigns for ever

Also I give unto my sister Anne Cooke the legacy of one shilling

And all the residue of my Goods Cattle Chells & personal estate I give & bequeath unto my aforesaid loveing brother Robert Whitaker (he paying all such debts as I shall owe at my decease & bringing my body decently to the ground)

And I do constitute and appoint the said Robert Whitaker my brother to be the sole & full executor of this my last Will And in testimony hereof I the said John Whitaker have hereunto set my hand & Seale the Two and twentieth day of Aprill in the Twelveth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William the third by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland King defender of the Faith &c Anno Dni 1700
