Matthew Wells of Ab Kettleby 1719 of Ab Kettleby Will and Inventory

Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Archives, Leicestershire Wills and Probate Records 1719

In the Name of God Amen I Matthias Wells of Kettleby in the County of Leicester Yeoman being of Sound Mind but imperfect Health, do make and Declare this my last will & Testament, revoking all other former Wills in Manne & Form following

First I commit my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, and My Body to be buried att the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named, and for my Estate I dispose thereof in manner and forme following (Viz)

I give and bequeath to My Daughter Mary the sume of Twenty Pounds of lawfull Money to be paid to her by My Executor hereafter mentioned within one Year after my Decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann the like Sume of Twenty pounds of Lawfull Money to be paid to her by my Executor herein after named within two Years after my Decease

Item My Will is that my dearly beloved Wife Should live with, and be maintained att the Charges of My Executor hereafter appointed so long as She lives or untill She Marries againe, but if She Shall not approve to live with him or He will not maintaine her in the House with him Then, or in either of those Cases, I give to my dearly beloved Wife the Sume of five pounds of lawfull Money and a load Coals Yearly & every Year so long as she shall live and continue unmarried to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named Quarterly att the four most usual feast or Days of payment in the year, that is to say att the feast of the Nativity of our Lord, the fest of the Annuntiation of the Blessed Virgin the feast of St John the Baptist and the feast of St Michael the Archangel

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Matthias all the rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate whatsoever

And lastly I do Nominate and appoint My Son Matthias to be My Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament

In Wittness whereof I have hereunto Sett my Hand & Seal this Twenty Sixth day of August in the Sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c Annoq Dni 1719
