Jarvis Watchorn of Chadwell 1811 Will and Inventory

This is the last Will and Testament of me Jarvis Watchorn of Cawdwell in the County of Leicester Grazier

I Give to my Son Thomas Watchorn All that my House in Cawdwell aforesaid which I now live in (subject to two rooms therein for the use of my present Wife during her life) Also all my Closes Lands and real estate in Cawdwell aforesaid and Wykeham To hold the same unto my said son Thomas Watchorn his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to and charged and chargeable with the payment of an annuity or yearly sum of Eight Pounds a year unto my Son William Watchorn during his life the same to be paid quarterly and to commence from the day of my death And I give the same powers to my said Son William of distress and sale for recovery thereof as Landords have to recover rents in arrear

I Give to my Daughter Hannah Watchorn the sum of one hundred Pounds which I direct may be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named within twelve months after my death

I Give to my Grand daughter Hannah Hawley the sum of Ten Pounds which I direct may be placed out at Interest by my Executor after my decease and the same to be paid to her with the accumulations thereof when she shall attain the age of twenty one years, but in case my said Grand daughter shall not live to attain the age of twenty one years then I direct that the same may be paid to my daughter Elizabeth Hawley her Executors Administrators & Assigns

I Give to my said son Thomas Watchorn all my Household Goods Plate Linen and China (which I was possessed of before my intermarriage with my present wife and which may be in and about my said dwelling house at the time of my death) Also all my Stock Cattle Chattels Implements of Husbandry and all other my personal estate and effects subject to the payment of the above Legacies my just debts funeral and Testamentary Expences To hold the same to him his Heirs Executors Admors and Assigns

It is my wish and desire that my said son Thomas will behave in a proper and dutiful manner towards my wife Elizabeth in case she survives me during her life

And I nominate constitute and appoint my said son Thomas sole executor of this my last Will and Testament And I revoke all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Jarvis Watchorn the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained on two sheets of Paper set my hand & Seal this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven

Let a Probat be made to Thomas Watchorn the sole Executor within named, he having been duly sworn as well to the faithful execution of the Will as that the Testator’s Goods chattels & credits did not amount to Two hundred pounds at the time of his decease
