Alice Watchorn of Chadwell 1767 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen I Alice Watchorne of Cawdwell in the County of Leicester Widow being in perfect health And of Sound Mind memory and understanding But Considering the Uncertainty of this life Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)

First of all I give my Soul to God Who gave it me And my Body I Commit to the Earth to be decently [“buried” missing] at the discretion of my Executors herein after named

And as for my Worldly Estate which hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose thereof as follows

In the first place I give and bequeath All and Singular my Household Goods other Goods Stock Cattle Chattells rights Credits and personal Estate of What kind or nature soever (my Debts and Funeral Expences being first paid and discharged) unto my Brother Thomas Exton of Eastwell in the Said County of Leicester Grazier and his Son John Exton of Eastwell aforesaid Grazier their Executors Administrators and Assignes In Trust Nevertheless And to the intent and purpose That they the said Thomas Exton and John Exton and the Survivor of them and the Executors Administrators and Assignes of such Survivor Do and shall as soon as conveniently he and they can after my Decease sell and dispose of my said Household Goods other Goods Effects and personal Estate for the best price and prices that can be got and obtained for the same And with the monies arising thereby and after payment of my said Debts and Funeral Expences Do and Shall then place out at Interest on the best Security or Securities that can be procured and mett with, And the Interest and proceed thereof Do and shall yearly and every year during the Term of the Natural life of my Son John Watchorne pay Apply and dispose of such Interest and proceed for the maintenance and Support of my said Son John Watchorne for and during the Term of his Naturall life

And from and immediately after his Decease Then upon this further Trust and confidence that they the said Thomas Exton and John and the Survivor of them and the Executors Administrators and Assignes of such Survivor Do and shall and lawfully may retain and keep all and every such principal sum and sums of Money and Interest thereof respectively as shall be placed out at Interest by them as aforesaid to his and their own use and benefit without giving an Account of the same to any person or persons whatsoever

And I do hereby Appoint the Said Thomas Exton and his Son John Exton full and Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament Revoking all former Wills by me att any time by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Alice Watchorn the Testatrix have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and sixty six
