George Turner of Old Dalby 1843 will

This is the last Will and Testament of me George Turner of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Innkeeper

First I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be fully paid

I give and devise all my messuages closes lands tenements hereditaments and real estate situate in the Lordship of Old Dalby aforesaid with the appurtenances unto my daughter Elizabeth Turner his [sic] heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to the payment of the sum of fifty pounds out of the same hereinafter bequeathed unto my son John Turner

I give and bequeath unto my said Son John Turner the sum of fifty pounds which I will shall be paid to him in manner hereinafter mentioned that is to say the sum of five pounds part thereof at the expiration of twelve months after my decease and the further sum of five pounds yearly and every year until the said sum of fifty pounds shall be fully paid off and satisfied in case my said son John Turner shall so long live and which I direct shall be charged and chargeable upon my said real estate above mentioned and I do hereby give unto my said son John Turner and his assigns full power and authority by distress and sale to recover the same as landlords have for obtaining rent in arrear

I also give and bequeath unto my said son John Turner one Cow which I will shall be delivered to him immediately after my death

And as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expences I give and bequeath the same unto my said daughter Elizabeth Turner her executors administrators and assigns and I do appoint her sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others by me made

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty

Signed sealed published and declared by the said George Turner as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other set our hands as witnesses to the due execution thereof the two words “said” and “John” being first interlined
