In the name of God Amen I John Teate the elder of Scalford in the County of Leister being weake in body but of perfect memory & understanding (praised bee God therefore) doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in maner & form following

First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping for Salvation onely by the merits & mediation of his son Jesus xt

My body I bequeath unto earth decently to be interrd at the discretion of my Executrix hoping for a joyfull resurrection

And for that worldly estate which God hath lent mee I dispose of it as followeth

First I give & bequeath unto my loving wife Frances Teate all that Cottage house or tenement wherein I now live with the shop barne outhouses thereunto belonging, as also the garden close with the … thereunto appertaining with two bease pastures two sheepe comons … thereunto appertaining, which I Lately purchased of Mr George Harrys of Melton I Say I give the same unto the sd Frances Teate during the terme of her naturall life

And after her decease I give & bequeath the same unto my eldest Son John Teate during the terme of his naturall life & after his decease I give & bequeath the same unto his eldest son John Teate & to the heires of his body Lawfully begotten for ever & for want of such heires, then to the next son of the said John Teate his Father Lawfully begotten, & to his heires for ever, And for want of such Son or heires, I give & bequeath the same unto John Teate eldest Son of my Son Francis Teate of Stonesby & to his heires for ever, & for want of such heires then to the next Son of the sd Francis Teate & to his heirs for ever, but if it please Go That neither of of my Sons have any heires male, Itm I give all the formentioned premises unto the right heires of my eldest son John Teate for ever

And for all the rest of my estate goods chattells utensils belonging to my trade, debts dues or demands whatsoever I give & bequeath the same unto my Loving wife Frances Teate making her full & Sole executrix of this my last will & testament & revoking all other wills by mee formerly made
